Maybe so.  That said, if "Becky" really is a derogatory term for promiscuous white women, then...idk, it seems like a racist term to me.

Well if we're operating under the assumption that Beyoncé was using Becky as a term for white women (especially white women with loose morals) then I don't think it matters which particular woman she was referring to.  Granted, like I said, prior to this I didn't know "Becky" was code for anything, so my assumption may be off base.

i don't believe referring to white girls as becky is racist though.  it is, however, racial stereotyping.  and while this all may seem like a victimless crime, it shouldn't be excused.

I basically agree.  I'm not too keen on the semantics regarding the difference between things like "racism," "bigotry," or "racial stereotyping."  And like I said in my initial post in this thread, I, personally, am not offended by it. 

I'd probably be more offended if I was exposed to racism or bigotry or whatever in my every day life (which I think is what Rusty was getting at in his "role reversal" post above.)

there's a big difference between racial stereotyping and racism in my mind.  one of the two can only be defined by a person's unique experience, the other is easily defined by anyone.
