Well I can't even find a brand name on mine to check if it is recalled, and Gooch threw away the box it came in. But that website I bought it from now has no products listed for sale.

I can still log into my account on their website and see my order. But this is the description of the item I purchased:

I used the Contact Us link to send them a message but haven't heard back yet.

Call the CPSC that ordered the recall if you're really wanting to pursue it.  But don't expect that you're simply gonna get a check for $300 or whatever; their listed remedy is:

Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled products and contact the recalling company to return their hoverboard for a full refund, a free repair or a free replacement depending on the model.

I think I only got the deal I did b/c it's amazon and they'd rather give out a bunch of money than have to deal with doing all that shipping.  How that absolves them of liability, I have no idea, given that they've said I or whoever I give it to can keep the thing.

You'd call CPSC and tell your tale and see what they advise.

Obviously, they don't burn houses down unless you overcharge the crap out of the thing.  If they did, these "recalls" wouldn't be so nonchalant or in amazon's case, nonexistent.

Look at the people in the news stories about hoverboard fires and ask yourself if you look like them.

Well then why did you tell me to figure out if thing is recalled? I guess I will just ignore the recall and plug the hoverboard in to charge while I am away at work.

Our Factory is also one of the first manufacturers to start making this brand of balancing scooters. They specialize in this type of product, hence, they have already identified and resolved the issues of initial shipments.

Just checked and the near-thousand dollars is credited to my freedom card.  I think there was a delay since my card # changed between last year and now.  Only 1x the UR points are getting deducted and they'll all end up coming back and then some as I use that $1000 on meals and costco over the next few months at 5x.

And my place didn't burn down while I was covering and left the 'board at home.

Moral of the story, next christmas, buy the trendy but possibly lethal gift from amazon that will eventually get recalled but not really recalled, and don't overcharge it.
