Yep. Area rug in the family room is main concern. Dog loves to roll around and scratch her back there. Plus three long-haired women. Ugg.

I have a dc50, it has been better than the Shark and Electrolux I tried and returned at Costco. I will say the Dyson's carpet performance is fine but I don't love it on hardwoods & tile so I usually use a ~$100 Electrolux cordless stick vac. I also don't like how the Dyson's hose/handle assembly work -
It is a little cheap and flimsy feeling.

All that said I will be buying a cordless Dyson's when the Electrolux battery goes to crap because Dyson's do suck and go hard.

I am on my second Dyson. I have lived both. A family member of mine worked for them when they first came out, so I got my first one cheap. I had it for 10 years or so, and then paid retail for my current one at Bed Bath and Beyond a couple years ago...it's like the middle of line model.

Dyson till I die, man.

We used to use a push broom made from horse hair to sweep out the house before we had electricity. I know how to get dirt off the floor!
