Hey, country music people
« on: May 03, 2010, 06:44:28 PM »
Just bought tickets to see Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum in June.  Mrs. OK_Cat is all about that stuff.

What should a normal, non-hick like me wear to one of these events?  It will be outside (Zoo Amphitheater, OKC   ) in the evening in June, so hot and sticky.

Basically, will I be punched in the head if I'm not wearing a cowboy hat and/or boots?  Not sure I can "pull those off," ya know.

Man, I don't know.  Flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt?  :dunno:

Most country fans seem pretty laid back.

I feel like I need to go buy a pair of jean shorts for this thing.

Like, Mrs. OK_Cat is all "just wear something you'd normally wear" but I don't think that's how these things work.  I think I'm supposed to "fit in" and stuff.

Also, I don't know ANY songs from these people, except for the current popular song by Lady Antebellum.  I'm gonna be bored as sh%t.

jeans and either flip flops or tennis shoes.

edit: boots would be a plus, but if you don't feel like you can "pull them off" it's good.

When I used to go to Stampede...shorts and t-shirt.  At an indoor concert...jeans and t-shirt/polo.

Although I do admit that I wore a hideously ugly western shirt that my parents got me for Christmas to a few concerts back in the day.

Shorts or jeans (not the combo) and a t-shirt would suffice. I highly doubt Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum are going to attract your real hardcore hicks.

Most important thing about country concerts is what you drink.  Get a damn bottle of domestic beer.  (preferably coors lt or bud.)  Don't stray from this path, no matter what the wife says.  If someone sees you with an import or like a margarita or something, they will "stomp a mudhole in you."  Also, don't drive an import car to the concert or some guy with balls hanging from his rear bumper will purposely block you in.  You're welcome, in advance.

LA wasn't that bad when i saw them...but they were leading for Jason Aldean at the time...so not much to choose from.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.
