No to inked up troopers?
« on: January 17, 2016, 04:37:15 PM »
I don't like tattoos on officers.  God didn't want us to draw crap on ourselves, but dang we need highway troopers badly.  We are going to have to hire some inkers, but keep em in near metroghettoes.

How do you know your personal God didn't want that? How do you know what he wants?

This is a Reverend Renocat thing and my misuse of.the Bible to justify my often skewed and moron view of life.  Parents threatened renocat kitties with all kind of unmentionables if we came home.with a tattoo.  IMO they are offensive.  If someone comes up to me with a gun and they have a tattoo, I will crap my pants.

If they qualify and do their job well, I see no issues.

Cops are generally super trashy, so tattoos fit them perfectly.

I don't really care one way or the other about tattoos, but I agree they're generally pretty trashy. I've just never identified with any symbolism so strongly that I felt the need to permanently brand it on my body. I think the same applies to most people with tattoos. That's a really neat rose on your ankle - I guess you can always look at that and remember the time you got wasted in Cancun.

If I was in a military unit in a combat role, it makes more sense. Isn't that where a lot of our police and troopers are coming from?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

If patrol men are allowed visible tat's, the amt of gun and barbed wire tattoos on forearms is about to skyrocket.

People that only get tattoos to commemorate that one time they really cut loose on spring break are not the people that I want making split second decisions.

If someone has a large piece or a sleeve that is very well done, to me, that means they had thought it out. Dedicated large amounts of time and money to seeing it through.

I hate shitty tattoos/art. Which is what I see tattoos as, body art, a form of self expression. Just as the way we all dress, act, contribute, and communicate are forms of self expression.

Everything else being equal, I'll take the guy with the intricate sleeves over the guy without any tattoos 7 out of 7 times.

So you don't believe people might change later in life after doing something that you may or may not agree with which they may or may not regret? You don't believe that someone could grow up a little bit after making bad youthful decisions?

There are no absolutes, of course. I can only go from my life experiences. Most everyone I have met with shitty tattoos or got one due to getting a little wild is not someone I'd want enforcing laws. Is it possible for someone to become a better person, someone that doesn't view permanently marking ones body as trivial matter, yes.

I find it hilarious how tattoos can still be viewed as a bad thing. Who gives a eff what someone does with their own body.
