Sailors released according to the nyt.

Regarding this, why are people saying it was some sort of foreign policy failure on Obama's part that a group of sailors went into Iranian waters and were captured?  Do people think that the US military should have carte blanche to travel wherever we wish?

Would we feel differently if a small group of infantrymen went marching into Moscow and were captured?

That's a good read and exactly what I'm talking about.  Watching Fox News for their debate reaction, this was like their biggest thing, even though it was almost a non-issue.  Also, the usual suspects in this thread were quick to jerk off over it too. :jerk:

What would we do if two Chinese military boats floated into our waters without approval?  Yep, we would hold ships and sailors for as long as it took to feel confident something shitty wasn't going down, then release.

Seems about as common sense as it gets.

I think the preferred reaction would have been for us to immediately start carpet bombing Tehran so as to not appear "weak"

Iran captures our soldiers and ships and we're just so relieved they agreed to let them go so we can finally lift sanctions against Iran and allow them to renew their nuclear program. Meanwhile, Iran continues to fund and finance terrorist organizations who kill our people.

Seriously, what are these pubs whining about??? This sounds like excellent policy and diplomacy. Afterall, b.o. says we're the most powerfulest, and that's totally boss.

These are always such childish events.  Bunch of whiny babies trying to look as whiny as possible to make sure other whiny babies don't get upset at them for not being whiny enough.

Also, all the clapping is bullshit.  It's like SD is talking and the room is half full of Dobbers. (love ya dobs).

Democrats will be equally enraged, perhaps moreso, if a Republican is giving this speech next year.

I'm a republican and I'm not enraged by this speech. there are just people out there that are so far into the "my team's good and your team's bad" that it doesn't matter what was said. it only matters who said it.

I disagreed with plenty, but there were good things in there about foreign policy, reducing regulations on small business, immigration and other things that I liked.

Nothing to be enraged about, some good stuff and lots of legacy saving desperation to laugh at.  I give 2.75 stars.

Nothing is as damaging as the nonsense that if one side says it the other side can't agree with it. Nikki Haley agrees:
