Guys there is also the variable of precip to consider.  I like something with a DWR finish if it's just from car to inside, but anything more it's gotta be Goretex or eVent or something like that.  Waterproof+breathable.  Also remember synthetic insulations are probably better with precip.  Yes hydrophobic down is a thing now but 1) 'spensive and 2) you guys don't need the weight savings, because OMG just look at wacky and that salad!

I think it's silly when I see young kids, usually middle school boys, still wearing basketball shorts in the winter.

You rough ridin' take it back AJ, and I mean it! Jordan's are about the most comfortable thing ever

Also I hate wearing coats during winter, just a ksu sweatshirt or a ksu pullover during winter for this cat. except if I'm gonna be outside for a long time, which usually doesn't ever happen

if it doesn't have a hood, it better not look me in the eyes.

How in the fresburg is this your opinion?

it is my opinion because i opine it.  i don't understand your question.

Just seems like climate wise a hood would be wasted on you.

I wear a hoodie almost anytime I need a jacket except for work days and events.  I like zipper hoodies, pullovers, 1/4 zip, etc.  I carry lots of hats and gloves, and scarves, and jackets and long sleeved tees in my car.  Then I'm covered if the weather changes or my circumstances change, and others who might be traveling with me are covered in the event it becomes necessary.
Different styles for different events and situations.  And always a hat and hoodie if I'm going to be outside for a football game or other extended time.

i dress very warmly for my evening jaunts through the agricultural village. i like to pair my wool coat with a scarf, gloves and a knit cap on the particularly blustery evenings.

sounds like a man who won't be dominated by winter.  unlike so many here who cower behind the heater core of their ford dually.

Quarter zip pullover or zip up hoodie for 99% of winter. Only mess around with bulky coats if the temp drops into the single digits or if I'm outside for an extended period of time (shoveling snow, etc).

Non-zip hoodies :Yuck:

I'm the opposite; I don't like zip hoodies.

I do like quarter zip pullovers.
