Not quite Reed-y for the road win; aTm ADV
« on: December 12, 2015, 06:54:05 PM »

Wes and DJamer came to play and the Cats battled back from a bunch of aTm's runs, but there just wasn't enough defense. You can't allow anyone to shoot 60% and expect to win. Also, shooting continues to be an issue and a sick Wade didn't help. This loss doesn't sink this team by any measn, but a road win against a tournament team would've been a nice step.

Poor shooting and post defense will be tough to overcome in conference play.

I'd be pretty confident about a Tourney berth if we played in the Pac 12 or SEC,but the Big 12 looks brutal this year. :frown:

NIT maybe. The fact that we have rough ridin' Budke out there in crunch time pisses me off beyond belief.

It wouldn't have mattered too much, but not fouling at the 1 minute mark after a timeout was infuriating.

Agreed. Playing D down 5 there doesn't make sense, even with a shorter shot clock.

I also know that I am unfairly harsh on Hopper, but my God he is frustrating.  Why are we running plays for him to take 3's?

Many things Bruceketball carries out are lacking in sense and infuriating. It's part of his charm.

There was a four-minute span after the intentional foul turnover in which we didn't ge a good shot off. The problem was compounded by the fact aTm was scoring nearly every time so we weren't getting anything in transition.

Stupid passes destroyed us.  Young team making young mistakes, was surprised we made it as interesting as we did

Yeah, giving up 21-3 runs will get you beat on the road every time.

Still, not a devastating loss. We must win the rest of our OOC games and win at least 9 league games (maybe 10) to go to the tournament. I still have hope.

The Budke hate is a weird thing for me. It's not his fault he's playing and he's probably the best walk-on we've had, since Sky!

We couldn't get into our offense all game. The aTm zone and switching/over playing man pretty much kept us 25' from the basket the duration of our half court sets.  That has got to improve. We aren't going to be able to "shoot" (relative term) our way out of it every night like we did last night.

Steven Hurt needs to commit himself to playing a modicum of defense.

Dunno if devastating is the correct word but a win would definitely be nice security from the bubble should that come to pass. Only so many opportunities to get good wins.

I agree with that. I'm just implying that devastating losses in the OOC would be to anyone besides Carolina or aTm. Those are the losses that knock you off the bubble unless you manage a bunch of big league wins and we haven't done that yet.

Nobody hates him although I think his beard is ridiculously stupid. We hate that he was in at the end of a single digit game guarding the point guard. That wasn't a switch either, oscar Weber actually told hot horndogs to try to stay in front of a power conference starting point guard

We wouldn't be in a different boat in any of those conferences because we will have a whole bunch of road games where we looked like we did the last two. The Georgia game is our road ceiling, the A&M game is how we'll normally look on the road, and we'll have a couple of games where we'll get absolutely housed on the road and one of those games will be against a school like Baylor, UT, OSU, or Tech. For the record it looks like the Pac 12 will be very good this season.
