Big 12 just announced new rule requiring at least 1 P5 and no more than 1 FCS per year. No start date, just all contacts signed going forward must follow. Not forcing current signed agreements broken to meet the rule.

We are already set starting next year and going through 2021. These matchups make the OOC more enjoyable.

This was definitely a shot a Baylor. Every other school in the league already does this most years. They haven't played P5 noncon game since 2009!

KU and Baylor are the only two that do not have a P5 noncon scheduled for next year. Baylor adds one in '17 (Duke), but KU does not.

Everyone else has at least one in '16 and '17.

Where we the last B12 program to play 2 FCS schools in a season?

Wake and UConn.

To be fair, they did play an OOC home and home with TCU in 10 and 11 before they joined the league and became a P5 school.

Us in 2009?

That's probably a reaction to UNC this year. There were rumors (no idea if true) that when the ATL game fell thru, we might have gotten stuck with 2 FCS next year.

Add another item to the "reasons why the Big12 is terrible at PR" list: Big12 ADs are telling reporters that Army and BYU count. Office spokesman says they don't.

would be a good incentive for Texas to pick up it's rivalry with A&M, KU could try and schedule Mizzou every year at Arrowhead, etc.

maybe they are doing this now because they are planning on adding 2 crappy teams to the conference and want to make sure everyone is playing at least 9 games against power 5 teams at that time because we might go back to 4 OOC games.

I think they're doing it because almost all fans want it as well as tv networks. Also, with this rule the Big 12 can brag that its teams' schedules are harder/more interesting than any other conference due to the 9 conference games and P5 opponent requirement. Instant (though modest right now) bump in conference prestige.

K-State should start an annual series with Mizzou starting in 2022 or whenever.
