It's only 3 miles from the parking lot to the summit.
7.5km up, 7.6 down, 1471m elevation change on this (most popular and easiest) trail.

Staying up all night is already hard enough, then add climbing (hiking) a mountain on to that.

So you don't come back down the same way you come up?

No, they have (no crap) lanes with dividers like a highway because so many people are doing this pleasure hike.

You're right emo, the list of things more difficult is certainly quite long. Everest, k2, Kilimanjaro, childbirth, the FE, a hundred other mountains, some elk thing, you finish the rest.

Billions of people give birth every year.  :nono:

Need mocat to check this.

Not true, it's a separate trail. The down trail is the tractor path they use to bring supplies to the top. It's actually the hardest part. The whole length is switchbacks of maybe 40deg down that is entirely loose gravel/sand/ash.

And no toilets or places to buy water!

The elevation looks like it can kick your butt but I think emo has me convinced this is otherwise fairly easy.  I rate it 2 out of 5 hello kitties

I said the same pleasure hike stuff before I did it. I'll take an inventory of the specific challenges when I get to the office.

While you may want to avoid the Obon Week, we believe that by avoiding the crowds in general, you would miss out one of the most interesting aspects of climbing Mount Fuji, which is the camaraderie and unique experience of ascending the mountain among hundreds of equally minded people from across the world.

that's the first long stretch. its actually more difficult than you expect because you are slogging through sand/gravel/ash/ loose rock

maybe the bottom 1/3 is mostly like that the top 2/3 is more like this

emo, correct me if I'm wrong but do mountaineers call this "scramble"? I'll wait for your mountaineer correction. Be sure to point out the lack of carabiners, crampons, belayers, or ice axes.
