So I just booked a first time horse riding lesson in like 3 weeks.
What do I need to know?
Do I need to get spurs for my boots?
Have I made a mistake?
Make sure to tighten your saddle once your horse is off of the trailer.
If your horse stumbles, let go of the reins and grab the saddle horn. Let the horse have his head to regain their footing .
You want a horse that needs a rein more than a spur.
Wear a good pair of boots so your foot doesn't slide all the way thru the stirrup.
Adjust your stirrups so you can stand up in the saddle, but not too high.
Don't crowd the cattle into the fence.
Don't push the cattle. Let them go at their own pace.
Keep the cattle headed for the wing fence, anticipate, don't let them turn their heads back towards you.
