I can't stand Columbia, either. I'd love to see the Cats put them in their place.
in the end, EMAW will always win.
If it were up to me, Wintz would be on a fan scholarship, full ride.
Kansas State has a 7'0" freshman center named xWhomper who will test Conor and Luke.
Kansas State is up next for Columbia and it is very talented athletic team with an excellent coach. Our backcourt should match up well with KS, but this will be the frontcourt's first big test. By next weekend we should know where things stand. My guess is that Luke Petrasek and Lukas Meissner eventually will start up front for Columbia and that Rosenberg, Lo and Mullins will round out the starting five. After that I see Castlin, Hickman, Davis, Cohen, Voss, Coby, McComber and Adlesh, coming off a very strong bench. Add Hunter to the mix, if ready.
xWhomper got an 80 from ESPN recruiting. But since he is just a first-year, it's up to Voss and Petrasek to contain him. If they can do that, our backcourt should be able to outplay theirs. This is the first of this year's statement games. If we want to challenge for an IL title, we have to start beating the teams that are ranked above us.
You're certainly right that we don't know who is going to get how many minutes, and that the team is still cohering. That said, I'm just more impatient than you are. I want them to win some games they are not supposed to win now.Incidentally, in retrospect, our concerns about their 7 ft center seem unwarranted. He did not even play Friday night.
It's too bad the Lions aren't playing any nationally ranked teams this year. I've really enjoyed watching Columbia battle the likes of KU, MSU, Villanova and UConn in the past. And we usually play those ranked teams well.
