I need advice on best place to stay.  I have been before, the last time was 4 years ago and we rented a suite in the "Board Walk" area, so that we could have a room for kids and one for us to chill in when they went to bed early.  I liked that, but I think I paid way too much for what we got.

Here is what I desire:

1. More than one room.  Must have comfortable sleeping arrangements for my wife and I and our kids.
2. Better price than the Boardwalk suite I had last time
3. Pool

A distant "nice to have" is that it's walking distance from the parks, but I'd be cool with driving each day if it wasn't far.

Swan Executive or Grand Suite. Can be had for 400-500 a night and is a lot more room than your boardwalk suite. We've stayed at the boardwalk and the beach club which are both right next to the swan and actually prefer the swan.

Is the Swan affiliated with a hotel chain?

Starwood. It's technically a Westin and its sister property the Dolphin is a Sheraton. We will usually pay for the suite if we can get it for $400 or less and use 10k spg points a night (5th night free) for a room and add the parlor portion of the suite for $200 a night. So that would come out to 40k SPG points and $1,000 for a 5 night stay. They are the only non-disney owned hotel that has disney transportation, disney early entry, etc. The only thing it doesn't have is the free shuttle to the airport and you can't charge disney purchases to your room. In April we have a two bedroom suite booked for sd, mrs. dave, sd jr. sd parents.

This is the 2BR suite layout. A 1BR suite would be this with the door to one of the rooms closed off.

We've also stayed in a Grand Suite at the Dolphin which is technically a higher end suite but didn't like it as much because there are no balconeys on the Dolphin suites. Normally you will have two balconies on the Executive Suites at the Swan (one off the 1BR even though it's not pictured in that floor plan and one off the parlor).

And Pete, don't rent a car. you won't need it (unless you're going to Universal or something and even then I would just split your vacation between two hotels). just get a car service.

people don't use car service enough imo. Too tied to "I like to have a car 'just in case.'"

We talked packers football (his fav). He loves Jordy. He thinks the Chiefs can make the super bowl. I said "freight house" and then laughed. He maybe didn't understand, but certainly not a definitive response.
