Deustches Brewery Obsidian Stout. Been on a stout kick lately and this is as good as I've had lately. One thing I like about it is the lack of sweetness, seems like a ton of stouts lately are too sweet for me.
maybe you can help. I haven't had many stouts because I would usually rather drink hefeweizens, but I had a couple stouts lately which I really liked (Left Hand Milk Stout & LHMS Nitro were the bee's knees). As far as mass-produced, available everywhere stouts I really like Murphy's. I've had some oatmeal stouts that were OK, but I didn't love them. are there any stouts you'd recommend for someone like me? TIA
The left hand stouts are both really good, especially if you enjoy the sweet flavors. You may want to try Buffalo Sweat Vanilla, it's along the same lines. I like Sierra Nevada's quite a bit, Beamish is an old favorite like Guiness. I enjoyed Schlafly's oatmeal. Honestly, I just go to a liquor store with a nice micro beer selection and try different brands. I usually buy a sixer of something I know I like as well cause I've ran into some stouts I really haven't cared for, same as any other style. I bought some Sam Adams tonight, not sure why I haven't tried their stout yet.
*edit - Sam Adams' Cream Stout is pretty decent. Very smooth.
