That is definitely an E (yes the t cross touches the E but it is not what is making it an E). Also that is either a lowercase cursive r in the midst of all other capital printed letters or he spelled it PNESENT.

nah its clearly a bad uppercase R because he goes up, lifts and, draws down to form the back and lower line of the E.
