Lost in all this is how amazing their BBS year has/will be.

First, their native son who they were all convinced would never use their school as a stepping stone for more money....left them at the alter for more money.  a coaching search ensues which is great for BBS'sing.

Now, they are pathetic at football, getting ready to play the worst college football program in history with the possibility of losing, with the then very real possibility of firing their best coach in a generation, with the then very sobering reality that no one better than Rhoads will take the job.

What a a year...

I think they will find someone better than Rhoads. Just take any successful FCS coach, and there's an 80% chance he's better than Rhoads.

How many successful FCS coaches will take the Iowa State job?

Good point. I bet they end up with Mark Farley. He's better than Rhoads (beats him on the field about every other year), but he would be hard to get excited about.

Never heard of but have to assume he is at UNI.  He must be super Iowa-y with a name like Mark Farley

If they lose to Kansas (they won't) then they should just hire Beatty.

I don't think Beatty would take the lateral move, but he would leverage the offer to get a contract from KU that isn't such a joke.

they could do better than Beaty at least.  He had to have been KU's 5-7th choice.

Credit Iowa State for making sure they don't fall into the trap of becoming a 'basketball school'.
