How does the mass exodus from oscar compare with what could have happened with the Spradling-led mess with Frank?  I never was able to get any reliable info about that so I always assumed that it wouldn't have really happened, or if it did, it would have just been losers like Spradling who would have quit the team.

Can someone answer this, or if it's been discussed in an old thread post a link to it?  Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation.  :impatient:

Is there a reason why this question has been ignored?  Do you guys not want to answer it?  Or do non-regulars just get ignored around here?  :dunno:

no one knows the answers to your questions because frank left.

and the people that said stuff like "Frank had to leave" when he went to SC never really gave solid details so it is hard to answer your question.  I do remember some "We wouldn't have enough players to field a team if Frank stayed" comments back in 2012 that are laugh thru the tears funny now.

really, the regulars on this board have gone over this non stop since the day Weber was hired, this thread might be as good a thread as any to catch up but great Frank vs oscar talk can pop up anywhere and at anytime on this blog

Someone on BOTC is saying that the defections aren't over.  I honestly can't say if it's real or not because he hasn't passed along real info before.

We're deducing that it's Malek, but who knows?

Hopefully it is Malek and Wes. I like both of them and want them to enjoy success

Is there any scenario in which John Currie steps in and makes a move this off-season? Like, will he just sit back and watch the entire roster disolve? We've already lost seven players from the beginning of last season. DJamer probably won't play basketball again, so that's most likely eight. If Malek or Wes transfer, then that's nine. Heard rumblings that Bolden won't be good to go at the start of next season, and probably would have already been oscar'd had oscar not already lost over half his roster. This is legitimately (numbers wise, not the murder-y cheat-y coverup-y aspects) starting to resemble 2003 Baylor.

Is this legitimately going to be the worst K-State team of all time? Who do they have to be worse than to achieve that?

What do you think the new coach would want to walk into? A roster of unknowns or a next year where he review 8-10 scholarship players and know what he has moving forward?

I thought it was common knowledge that Frank and MoKan had burned a bridge.  Maybe I'm dreaming that.

Asbury's Cortez Groves led Cats were the worst team I've seen. I doubt we'll be that bad.

I think we need Underwood because he can win and be competitive with Southland level talent.

I mean, I think we're honestly just a shade above that next year.  That may be the angst talking, but really, this looks like it's going to be a disaster.

Nigel leaving presented another opportunity for the anti-Weber posters to pounce.  There doesn't have to be reasoning or perspective present.  I predicted that these posts would start immediately, and sure enough, it took Joey less than 5 minutes to weigh in with his bullshit, drawing parallels to this situation and the mass defections that would have happened had Martin stayed.  Even after pointing out that the two situations were not remotely similar, he still ranted on about it.  This is what you get when ego and "proving that you are right" poisons your thinking and opens the mind to irrational thinking.

Look at how Purplepain keeps going on about how he was "right" about Jevon Thomas.  The fact is, he wasn't right about anything.  Jevon is still a young player who is learning how to play at this level.  Saying that a sophomore point guard, who had limited practice with the team as a freshman has been a "bust" is ridiculous.  Jevon has the speed and athleticism to succeed in basketball on a high level.  He will never be a great scorer, but he is capable of contributing in so many other ways, and I expect him to do so somewhere else.  I'll be watching his progress with interest.

There are so many posters on this forum that like to blather on about this or that but never really contribute anything of substance to this board.  They are all about looking for scapegoats, and their jaundice view of KSU basketball and coach Weber is tiresome.

Quote
Gor, I'm a little surprised that you don't know what these three, and a few others want.
Remember, these three took a beating during Weber's first year, having to eat a lot of crow because Weber was immediately successful with an unfamiliar team.  These are three that "hated" the hire.  Now, they feel a false sense of redemption.  They have no desire to give Weber a chance to rebound, because they would then be back to square one again if Weber succeeds.  They would have to eat a second helping of crow.  The most satisfying thing to them would be to have Weber fired immediately so that they can say "they were right".   That's what this is about.  So here are their demands -

Fire Weber now.
Hire Underwood - a K-State guy, and a hot commodity among coaches.  We need to strike now before another top5 conference snatches him up.  He would care more, understand the culture and take us to heights that Weber, and even Martin could not achieve.
That would enable us to fill the Bram every game, because Manhattan would respond to the hire of Underwood, and the championship seasons he would bring.  That would make the Engineer happy.

Here's what would really happen under that scenario -

Underwood would be the only coach who would take the job given that KSU just fired a coach with a winning record and the school's first conference championship in 31 years.
Underwood would only be able to recruit 2-3 star players, because on a national level, no high school player knows who he is.  He has very little cache after coaching a small school from San Antonio.  We would be near the bottom, if not the very bottom of the league's recruiting rankings.
Claws would transfer.
Underwood, despite his ties to K-State, and his pinch post offense, would not put the Wildcats in the upper division of the conference.
Underwood would be fired after three years, just like Weber, and the coaching carousel would continue.
The three amigos would blame it all on Currie because he didn't hire Underwood initially and give him six years to build his program.

The lengths some people will go to support Weber, no matter what, is effin incredible.  What will be next?

Me: oscar's crap does indeed smell like crap
PDave: I'm sure it smells great.  You're just saying it stinks because you wish Frank was still here.
