Common ben ji dreams-

Late for football practice/forgot about final omg what if I dont graduate.

Lucid work dreams that are very realistic, things I deal with every day. The issue is that I never have access to a computer in these dreams so I'm always saying let me get back to you after I look it up but then I cant look it up because I dont have a computer. Eventually everything turns into "Lets go with option A if variable B is under X amount. If it is over X amount variable B will have to be moved to area 1 but I dont know how much area 1 has in it but I can't look up what X amount is or how much is in area 1 so lets go with option B which is....etc etc". just keeps getting more complex until I wake up.

Random adventure dreams that are usually loosely based off a recent book/movie I enjoyed.

I've dealt with night terrors/sleep paralysis for quite a while.   Not a good time.   Luckily, I haven't had any for several years.   I do think stress plays a significant role.

Not a night terror, but I sleep walk/talk frequently. When I was in 7th grade my parents sold our house and we lived in an apartment for 3 months before moving into the new one. I went to a lock and stayed up all night at church like a week after we moved in, then had a fall ball baseball game at 8:30 AM. Needless to say, I was zonked. About 3 PM that afternoon I woke up, in a room I had never seen (basement laundry room) and I was peeing all over the floor. I realized what was up and got the hell back to our apartment and told no one for like 4 years.

So there was a stretch roughly 6 months-a year ago where i would have terrifying dreams absolutely every night.  Basically everything you could think of that's horrible.  Being shot at, being mugged, parents dying, etc.  The absolute worst was when I dreamt I got on a train and started killing people.  I remember thinking in that one "my God, what have I done?!"  Just the other night I was on a train (with 8mp actually) and rural Illinois was under attack.  Bombs falling everywhere.

The only silver lining i guess is that waking up brings a sense of relief.  But I've had some serious freddy krueger crap goin on and it sucks.  Terribly stressful way to start my day.

Do YOU have bad dreams?  Am I crazy?  Is there anything that can be done to stop them when they keep happening?
COULD CAUSE DIABETES... :ohno:

"About half of type 2 diabetics have sleep-disordered breathing," says Osama Hamdy, MD, director of inpatient diabetes management at Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. So if you're diagnosed with the condition—characterized by loud snoring and daytime sleepiness—it's a good bet to get your blood sugar levels checked, too. One recent Canadian study showed that 23% of patients diagnosed with mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnea, a common sleep disorder, went on to develop diabetes within 5½ years. The connection isn't completely understood, but there's one important link between the two: Patients with sleep-disordered breathing tend to release stress hormones during sleep, which can raise blood sugar levels.

dlew, any new medications during that stretch? were you eating right before bed regularly? the eating thing can ramp up your metabolism and make your body feel like it should be active and cause them. sleep deprivation can also cause them if you hadn't been sleeping a lot. really bad night terrors run in my family. I had them as a child but don't recall them. would be screaming and unable to be woken up. mom still has them and will yell at night all the time during her sleep. I don't have them anymore luckily.
Looks like you missed the bullet.  Some of us aren't so lucky.  :frown:

I've had a couple out of body experiences while sleeping.   I remember one time in college when I had just fell asleep and was floating through the apartment and in quick instant I remembered I was in the bed asleep and woke up.   It was very vivid .

There was another time in college when I dreamt the alarm went off and I started my day normallly, but while I was in the shower in my dream I realized I was still asleep.

Very weird experiences but I attribute it to the semester stress.

sleep paralysis is like easily the most terrifying experience of all time.  it's happened to me maybe 5 times and even knowing it will go away it's still psychological torture

Yeah, it is terrible.  You try to yell out, but you only mumble quietly.

On the flip side, we should talk about awesome dreams.  At least once a month I have dreams (that I remember. I can only assume I probably have these dreams all the time but don't remember) where I realize I can fly.  I then rub it in everyone's fat, amazed faces.

Sleep paralysis can be fun and awesome if you know what it is when it's going on.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

crap guys, I just woke up from a nightmare!  It seems I was stranded on an island with over a thousand Victoria Secret type chicks.  OK, this seems weird that is isn't a fantastic dream, but you got to realize that I too was one of the chicks.  :D

I dreamed I got my accounts confused on my phone and I accidentally posted a terrorist statement from Twitter on the embassy's facebook page.

I also regularly have dreams of feverishly working against a deadline at an unsolvable problem, where the input is constantly changing before I can finish writing.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

dreamt the other night I went to work with just a shirt and shoes on. like I'm in a brooks bros non-iron, some wing tips, no pants or underwear. pretty humiliating. worse than forgetting a belt.

How dare you.

My worst dream was being in a plane crash where everybody knew the plane was going to crash for awhile.  I felt like I had to come to terms with my own impending death in the dream.  I've had the falling/waking up before you hit dreams and this was like a very extended version of that.

We already have a dream thread, and I had a pretty radical dream recently.

I used to take the dietary supplement ZMA for a while in high school, because I read somewhere that it improved your ability to recover after workouts. The one thing that I do know that it does, is give you freaky dreams. I don't remember any specifics, but I can remember awaking terrible frightened. Those dreams were why I stopped taking it. I have no idea if it helps workout recovery.

I had some weird sleep paralysis/nightmare thing last night. Had a hard time getting to sleep and took some NyQuil. Not an excessive dose.  Still had a hard time falling asleep and was really paranoid and super aware of every noise in the house.   I was up for maybe another hour before finally having these horrible vivid dreams that seemed like a waking dream except I couldn't get up from it. Like horrible crap was happening and I could imagine myself waking up and trying to yell and thinking I woke up and trying to tell my gf that I was having really weird NyQuil nightmares but I had such mush mouth I couldn't really make any noise come out. Then I eventually was able to wake up and see that I had obviously not woken up at all a minute before. This happened two more times with similarly horrifying dreams, but somewhat different.

Definitely 100% NyQuil related, I never have this happen. It reminded me almost exactly of a bad drug trip I had when a friend gave me something that was supposed to be MDMA, but was way more hallucinatory and was almost definitely some other chemical. It was almost like what a flashback must be like.

Very weird, not fun, very tired today. No more NyQuil for me.

Last night, I had this crazy ass dream that I was living in a house that I just bought and this guy kept trying to break in. Next thing you know, I see a shadow of him running up towards my house and I screamed in my sleep "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Ms. wacky then woke me up and said I screamed like a girl. Crazy stuff, guys!

Zyrtec gives me nightmares.  One of the other ones (Allegra?) gives me very lucid but chill dreams.
