I think our crap head selfish players deserve a lot of the blame for how bad this season was. We're clearly good enough to beat good teams. Often the effort was pathetic.

That said, it's oscar's job to not let hat happen and not recruit guys who don't play hard.

If I were assigning blame I'd probably go:
37% Players
35% oscar and Co
10% crap luck, injuries, etc?
16% big 12 refs suck
2% Eb Williams

It's not in the nature of 19 year olds to work super hard all the time, it's the coach's job to convince them to do that. If you have a complaint about the effort, then the coach is to blame.

I know you're really stupid, and I wish I could do something about that, but the point is everyone is a little responsible for this failure of a season, not one or two individuals.

I think fsd is pretty close, I'd raise coaching but the players were awfully soft tonight so maybe not.

Your respective tenures on the jv cross country team do not qualify you to opine on competition in team sports. Calling 20-year old men "kids" is asinine. You don't just wander into the high major level and then learn to play hard. Saying such is disservice to 99% of the kids playing at that level.

The teams I played on, I wouldn't say the high major talent were always the hardest working dudes on the team. In most cases they were on the other end of the spectrum. They didn't have to work all that hard, because they were much more talented than the competition.

Basically every college freshman talks about how the biggest transition from HS to college is 1) speed/physicality of the game 2) the effort it takes to be successful. This really shouldn't be all that controversial.

Maybe not 98%, but surely at least 90%. When it comes to motivational skills, oscar clearly doesn't have the corner on the market. Either that, or he can't recognize talented slackers when he recruits them.

I was v. concerned with our effort last year as well, very up and down. Marcus Foster unexpectedly exploding onto the scene was the only reason that last year wasn't exactly like this year.
