Yes . . . watching Harvey having to sign that check would almost be like standing on the bridge of the USS Missouri when Japan surrendered.

Hope they broadcast it in HD on the UT Network.  I'd DVR it and watch every time my family comes down from Nebraska.

I would be totally down with adding Memphis and TCU, moving Oklahoma schools to the north and going on like nothing happened.  Not happening but it would be ideal.  We just got better in both football and basketball.

that would be great, but i'm getting the feeling that if the whole thing is kept together that there won't be more teams added and that we'll all just play each other every year and do away w/ the conf title game. one conference, no divisions. jmo.

would love this scenario.  more tx exposure.  more tv. better games.  move to a 9 game conf season with one game played at a nuetral site (ou/tx, ksu/isu, ku/mu, etc) and an 18 game conf basketball season.

At this point, more than anything else, I want to go shopping at the Basketball Practice Facility store pick out something really nice, and slap down Nebraska and Colorado's AmEx and say, "It's on them".

You know what would really piss off NU?  If TX stayed put and got to cash that NU check.  My god, that would be epic.

If I were Texas, that's exactly what I'd be thinking about right now.

Look, you're the top athletic department in the country.  If and when you decide you want to move, any conference will be happy to have you.  You don't have to leave now or forever miss your opportunity.

So if you have the opportunity to stay in the Big 12, screw Nebraska and take a bunch of their money, have your own TV deal, make bank for a few years and run the conference even more than you did before (since Nebraska ain't here anymore), why wouldn't you do this?  It looks like this is what Dodds and a bunch of Texas legislators are starting to put together.  Heck, throw in Memphis and add their FedEx money and TV market for good measure.  It's not like they're going to cause you any problems in football.

I really like this idea. Money seems to be important to UT :dunno:

The way I feel right now is that a lot of these schools are going to look back at this in a few years, you know . . . after all the blow is gone, the hookers have gone home, the Cristal bottles lie empty . . . and they'll realize they're in conferences where they don't have any power, the Washington State game kicks off at 10:30 pm local time, and they don't win nearly as often as they used to, and the fan bases are all pissed off that the trophy cases are getting dusty.

Plus if you think I am going to let the previous administration at K-State's complete and utter failure to prepare for this day go . . . well you're wrong.  :chainsaw:

My sentiment almost exactly..
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

new info that a friend sent me. he said that he got it from someone else and that it might be very similar to something just posted by chip brown on orangebloods premium site...  ;)

Just got confirmation from three different sources at Big 12 South schools being targeted by the Pac-10 that Dan Beebe's attempts to secure a new TV deal on par with the SEC's $17 million/school payout for the 10 remaining schools in the Big 12 is in play.

The sources said they are proceeding cautiously with the new information provided by Beebe. But the information might slow down the rocket-like pace of Big 12 schools seeking a new home and possibly draw all the divided parties back to the table.

Here's what Beebe has provided to the five Big 12 South schools who have been targeted by the Pac-10, including Texas A&M, who has been in deep conversation about joining the SEC.

--Beebe has secured information that enough money could be inked in its next TV negotiation (in 2011) that revenues per school would jump from between $7 million and $10 million in the Big 12 currently to $17 million, which is what the SEC pays out.

--Individal institutions would be allowed to pursue their own networks, which has been a goal of Texas. If the Longhorns went to the Pac-10, they would have to forgo their own distribution platforms, including a network, because the Pac-16 would seek to have a conference network in which all inventory is shared.

(Consultants have put Texas' ability to generate revenue from its own network at between $3 million and $5 million after a start-up window of about three years.)

--The Big 12 would proceed with 10 teams. Everyone would play everyone in football, providing a nine-game conference schedule. And the option to save or dump the conference championship game would be determined by the institutions.

--The loss of Nebraska and Colorado should have been a loss of about 16 percent to the league's revenue generating capacity. But because Colorado was an underperformer, the league lost only about 8.6 percent of its value with the loss of Nebraska, according to sources with knowledge of the Beebe Plan.

Hold on folks. This is about to get interesting. The key in all of this is that Texas appears to be at least reconsidering its position on going to the Pac-10 and will listen to the Beebe proposal and to the idea of remaining in the Big 12.

Nothing is done. It is fluid. But the Beebe Plan to hold the Big 12 together is definitely in play right now. As I was told by a top source in the day's developments: "The winds to keep the Big 12 together with 10 teams are getting stronger."

I have a very good source that says UT was gone to the Pac-10 because of get this... ACADEMICS!!!   That even though they were trying to paint a picture that they were the ones leading the way to keep the Big12 together, they were actually the leader to bolt.

That info was Friday, so it's probably stale.   :dunno:

some info from a texas fan. some of it be reposted stuff. i dont know if he has insider sources or has just been messageboarding hard like us for the past few days so like everything in this thread take it with a grain of salt

A&M doesnt have an offer from the SEC. SEC is unsure if they want to expand. they will expand for texas and ou. texas doesnt want sec. ou kinda does but doesnt want to break from texas. a&m met with sec yesterday it was more a&m trying to convince sec to take them then anything. pac-10 commish meeting with a&m today and a&m will get an offer to join or walk away. if a&m doesnt take pac-10s offer by monday pac-10 will look elsewhere (ku or utah like we have been saying)

if a&m goes to sec all other big 12 south teams will blacklist them. texas will make tech their rival. texas fans are super pissed about the situation and never want to play a&m again unless its in a bowl game. a&m wouldnt get to play any of the teams in texas worth a damn ever again outside of a bowl game. sec is trying to convince ou to join them in the sec which ou kinda wants but they want to stay with texas. sec would most likely take a&m and ou but not certain just a&m so if a&m turn down pac-10 they could be with the rest of the big 12 rejects.

The sad part is that it took this implosion for Beebe to get off his ass and negotiate a proper tv deal.  Why the hell is the tv deal suddenly worth more than double what it was worth when CU and NU were still part of the conference?  Me thinks we got hosed the first time around....Beebe should be embarassed.

Also, I was never too fond of the "Big 12" name but suddenly the "FedEx Conference" has a nice ring to it....especially if it nets an additional $10M per.  Hell why not open up the bidding?  "Phillips 66 Conference"?  As long as it's all about the benjamins, let's get creative.

The idea the SEC would go after Kansas was also dismissed, though a KU source said that would be a preference for the Jayhawks.

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=5279963

Of course it would be their preference.  They're going to get the crap kicked out of them in football no matter where they go.  With the SEC they could still dominate a major conference in bball.

If the ten remaining Big 12 schools stay together, I'll forever remember the parties involved as simply being scared poker players.

This tweet looks to me like a little insight into the agenda at play in Austin to push UT out of the Big 12 and into the Pac-10, no matter what.  The point is- Orangebloods was never a neutral party simply reporting what sources had told them.  They were actively pushing for Nebraska to leave and for the conference to implode.   :nono:

If we had to play nine conference games a year including all six of the South schools, how often do you think we'd get to a bowl game?  I'm guessing Independence/Texas bowl every 7-10 years.

1% of me still thinking that some entities inside the corridors of the Big 12 South Titans don't want to move at all.    IF the BCS system gets scrapped and they go to a playoff, you still need to have won games, think about seeding, easier path to automatic qualification etc. etc. etc.

Going over to the SEC for example makes that road all that much harder.    If you're OU and Texas why wouldn't you want to stand pat in the Big 12 (or 10) where you know the lay of the land, can rule the land, still have an auto bid, will not have increased travel costs, will play all your conference games in the Central time zone . . . and in the case of Texas have been told again and again that you can have your own TV network.

LOL at A&M, sorry guys, but according to the WWL, the SEC wants OU and Texas  . . . geez Aggie Cult, you think it's hard in the Big 12??  Wait until you become Arkansas Jr. over in the SEC, praying for that game against Vandy.   If there's one school in the Big 12 South that has an over inflated opinion of themselves athletically it's the Collie Cult of College Station.  Plus, you'll be out there talking up the SEC to all the Texas recruits and boom . . . here comes LSU, Arkansas, Alabama and Auburn recruiting the $Hit out of Texas and kids listening because hell, A&M was just here and they sold them on how awesome the SEC is.

Something I read yesterday (maybe on this thread) said that the Big 12 south ADs, including Dodds and Byrne, don't really want to go Pac 10, but the president/chancellors of aTm and Texas are really the driving force behind leaving the Big 12.

Which seems totally backwards.  Shouldn't the eggheads all be worried about 20 hour bus rides and golfers missing their physics for poets labs?

The Academic Affiliation BS is just air cover for the school Presidents to keep the Academic "why do we have athletics anyway" Wonks on campus at bay . . . they don't believe that stuff, and they know it has nothing to do with academics.

+1000000000000 Thank you. eff.

Still do not believe that Texas is willing to forgo all of their equity for the Pac 10 . . . I don't care how much money they have, and how much they're coveted, once they're there, the Pac 10 aristocracy is not going to let Texas shove them around.

Plus a 9 game football/18 game basketball conference season IMO would have to be very intriguing for TV.  On one side of that equation Cornhole brings nothing, on both sides of that equation Colorado brings nothing.

On some levels, it's almost addition by subtraction.
