It has no bearing in the upcoming 4-team playoff.  None. Zip. Zero.

The Big 12 Champion will have played 12 games.

The SEC (or Big 10 or Pac 12) champion will have played 13 games.  And that 13th game is virtually guaranteed to be against a highly ranked opponent, giving the champion an important SOS boost right at the end of the year.

How long will it be before that comes back to bite us in the ass?

It's just as likely, if not more likely, that a Big 12 team ends up making the playoffs because some team gets upset in their CCG.

The SEC just passed an increased buyout that FSU voted against because they allowed FUTURE members Pitt and Syracuse to vote. The football ACC schools are absolutely getting raped by this deal.

Each ACC school will be earning an additional ~$1 million per year from this. Big rough ridin' deal. Iowa State will still be earning a whole lot more money from their tv deal than FSU. All of these schools are taking a back seat to ND in their own bowl games and receive absolutely nothing if ND gets to a BCS bowl.

The ACC kind of sold it's soul to Notre Dame so people get could an extra $2 million a year, and not a single member of that conference will get within $5 million in conference payout that Kansas State will get.

Really, though, how much of that could FSU possibly be on the hook for if they leave within the month? They voted against it, and it hardly seems fair to hold them to it if it pisses them off so much that they want to leave.
