I mean, it doesn't take a sharp mind to understand that 100% of something is better than less than 100% of something.  All I am saying is that the increased number would need to be such that the rev was higher post tax/post change than it is exempt now and to do so would require a big jump in rev to overcome the tax.

That is probably what will determine who will be the last few schools to get in.  If the other 3 conferences all have at least 12 members and a conference championship game, then the Big XII will have to match that.  There are two spots to fill.

ACC can do whatever they want.  We don't have to let them play.  Same reason they leave Boise out all the time.

You are right, but they are not stupid.  When they shove us back into the bowl era, the Champion's Bowl will be the closest thing there is to a national championship.  They already know this.

You are right, but they are not stupid.  When they shove us back into the bowl era, the Champion's Bowl will be the closest thing there is to a national championship.  They already know this.

The Champions Bowl will have the better teams, and the media will sometimes call the winner the national champion, but as long as USC will be able to just dominate the Pac (and they will pick up where they left off, starting this season) and only have to play the big 10 champ in the Rose Bowl, they will go undefeated often, and the media will consider them to be national champs just as often as the winner of the Champions Bowl. I expect Ohio State to start dominating the big 10 again very soon as well. The Rose Bowl is also unmatched in terms of fanfare, tradition, and money.

I don't understand why they want everything on this board to be in one thread either. Here it is again:

It's time to quit worrying about who is coming and who is not.  The more interesting development by far is the bowl situation. 

I can guarantee the Pac12 and big 10 are going to drag their feet. When talks break down over how the new 4 team playoffs should work they will decide to go back to the old bowl system and play in the Rose Bowl. Let the polls determine the national champion.

What do the Big XII and SEC do at that point? Start playoffs with everybody else? Almost certainly we'll just play our Champions bowl. And then after one or two years of that, the Rose Bowlers will say: "Oh hey, Champions Bowl, how about we play one more game with the winners of our bowls?"

Then it gets fun. That's when the NCAA blows up. Because that would violate NCAA rules and there is no way the ACC, Big East, or any other D1 teams can stand for that. 

When the four power conferences are not in the NCAA, they won't be subject to NCAA rules.  All new rules. Players will get paid "stipends". Recruiting rules will be relaxed. There will be a whole new basketball tournament.  The works. This is happening.

None of that is contingent upon Notre Dame or Florida State or anybody else joining our conference. Anybody not in when the music stops is toast. And the music stopped last Friday.
