It's like when you're playing football at recess and some more people walk towards the field wanting to play too. Right now it's 8vs8 but we decide it's ok to go 11vs11. Quite a few people walked towards the field so not everybody is going to be able to play. We want the best players for sure, but ultimately don't care because we're already playing and having fun...and happy we're not the ones that will get stuck playing tetherball with the uncoordinated kids. We once thought we were going to be one of the kids playing tetherball, but puberty hit at the right time and are now playing tight end on the shirts team.

I just want this to get the credit it deserves.

This is all three tiers. They cannot monetize that there like they can here.

$3 million is just the guaranteed shortfall between existing contracts. That's not including what they may be leaving on the table here by simply joining and THEN monetizing their Tier 3. If we were to create some form of network that would bundle with the LHN (which is rumored), they are leaving, maybe, $10 million or more on the table every single year.

Initial feedback from FSU fans on this deal is, "That's all you got?"

This was not seen as positive for FSU.

Also dont forget about the new BCS structure that may eliminate AQ status and how that would hurt the ACC

If the ACC doesn't give them a huge disproportionate share, they'd be fools to stay.

Big 12 is at 20
-add 4 if they both come
-add about 2 for the CCG
-and they get to sell their own tier 3 which should be worth at least another 4.

Plus, who know how much more for bowls, postseason playoff share, and higher ticket sales. (FSU's having problems selling tickets, which shouldn't be a surprise given who they have to host)

They'd get at least an extra 13 million for jumping to the Big 12. More than likely with the extra stuff they'd double their money.

Also, since this is for all three tiers, this means that, currently, the Big 12 and the SEC are the only two major conferences that allow schools to retain their own Tier 3 rights.

Tier 3 rights are a huge untapped revenue source for schools, and they are just now starting to figure that out. West Virginia is putting out their RFP for Tier 3 -- watch the reaction when the $$ they get for it becomes public. With the distribution problem becoming much easier to solve with online portals, pretty much any school stands to make serious cash from it.

Tier 3 rights are one thing, Tier 3 content is completely another. as i'm sure you're aware...the rights don't mean crap if you don't have the content.

Will probably be part of a Tv revenue item in the budget, which would also include Tier 1 & 2 income. Doubt they would make a completely separate line item for it.

reportedly, FSU has $6M+/yr deal for radio, coaches shows, and the like but no baseball, basketball or Olympic sports.

I would guess UNC's 11.1 is similar a deal, impressive that UNC can get that much scratch w/o basketball games on tv.

Initially I thought "no way that's right." However I just looked at UNC's schedule last year and they only had 1 game not on the CBS or the ESPN networks. Looks like they were able to sell 1 game to something called RSN.

Pan, with all the things that are happening with Norte Dame and FSU could it be possible we get these two in our fold? Rumors are they both had representatives in Dallas at the Conference meetings.
