Would ND count as half a conference win when you beat them?

ND as a half member will piss off the a lot of the college football world when they and undefeated Big12 team that didnt play them takes another spot.  Being our conference, that will be delightful.  Wonder how ND would do bowl splits?  Prob just keep it all

So that guy claims to work in the ND AD and lays out his credentials so much that anyone in the ND AD can easliy figure out who he is.  He does this on a WVU site he's never posted on before and makes vague statements.  I call bullshit.

I'd say there's about a 90% chance it is someone from FSU or Clemson trying to strong arm the ACC

Article on FSU Finances

Quote
The other big issue is conference distribution," noted Miller. "The ACC, when I started, they paid more than anybody else. Now, it's significantly different than some of the people we compete against."

Each school in the ACC receives approximately $12.9 million share per year from the league's television contract with ABC/ESPN. The Sports Business Journal recently reported that the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh will result in a new television contract that could generate an additional $1 to $2 million annually to each conference member. That will certainly help put a dent in the revenue disparity between the ACC and the other major athletic conferences. Nevertheless, FSU's cut of television revenue will still be far short of what schools in the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 receive.

The ACC is locked into its current television until 2023 (probably longer when the new contract with Syracuse and Pittsburgh gets done) and you can bet that expenses aren't going decrease over this time.

According to BusinessofCollegeSports.com, FSU's athletic department has the most expenses of any ACC school by a wide margin. And let's face it, FSU is the most important member when it comes to the ACC's current $1.86 billion television deal. Nevertheless, ACC Commissioner John Swofford calls equal revenue sharing among league members "sacred". That's not a surprising stance from the ACC Commissioner considering that most league members don't have near the expenses that Florida State has nor do they generate the same level of income for the conference. Great deal for most of the ACC but bad for Florida State.

Quote
"On the revenue side there is optimism that an aggressive marketing campaign will help boost football ticket sales and booster contributions. While that sounds good on the surface, with five home games against Savannah State, Murray State, Wake Forest, Duke and Boston College it will be a minor miracle if FSU is able to match last year's ticket sales. And it's unlikely that the home schedule will be much better in 2013."

They are laying the groundwork for why they need to move to the Big12

It's just a matter of time.

Did anyone else see how profitable the Gators were this year?  Man, I'd hate to share a state with a school that's making that much money (with the potential to make even more), all while my prospects at future revenue growth are capped at a distant 5th place.

I mean, wow.  How hard is that decision?

So, with the threat of FSU going to the Big12 and potentially evening up the playing field (somewhat), does Florida reconsider their stance on keeping FSU out of the SEC? Ditto for South Carolina vs Clemson.

FSU makes $11.9/year on the ACC deal.  Florida makes $20MM+/year for their SEC deal, plus an additional $10MM/year for rights to Sunday morning FB replays, a few basketball games, some Olympic sports, and in-stadium advertising/corporate sponsorship.  Florida's secondary deal is almost as much as FSU's primary.

So a year after or six months after or two years after all these various things started happening or whatever, where do we stand on the following heroes and/or villains? Has enough time passed for their legacy to be written? If yes, tell me how to feel about each of the following:

Guys, I just don't know what to make of these visions I been having.  I invision FSU and Clemson ready to join the Big XII, then at the last minute, the SEC invites them and they go to the SEC.  In our panic, we invite Louisville and they become part of the Big XII.  Then sometime latter, out of nowhere, ND joins by secret invitation deal from DeLoss and Bob B.  This all happens before we complete our new tier I network contract.  Our deal ends up being the largest amount ever, and KSU like the other BIG XII menbers are filthy  :kstategrad:
Need I say more.  :crossfingers:

So, I'm doing more research on all of this for a series of posts I'd like to write on our blog, and I found this to be very interesting.

Quote
Despite spending the fewest dollars per student-athlete of any school in the ACC, Maryland’s athletic department is on course to lose $4.7 million in the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2012. Its budget deficit is projected to escalate substantially over the next five years, ballooning to $17.6 million in June 2017 unless the department significantly increases revenue, slashes spending or both.

Put Maryland on the list since it sounds like GT isn't interested at all.

My guess is that we end up expanding to 14 teams by 2014.  FSU and Clemson will join in all sports for 2013 after this summer, and Louisville and Maryland will join for 2014.

Sorry, steve dave.
