I'm betting we end up using the money to start up a couple of non-revenue sports.

I would be okay with a wrestling/rugby team. What if our new east coast friends make us get a lacrosse team? We would get SLAUGHTERED :horrorsurprise:

:flush:

Try softball & soccer

would love the crap out of men's and women's soccer at old stadium. would love to see some EMAW hooliganism

ya I hate soccer but I could sure see myself becoming a qat soccer hooligan   :ksu:

Why would anyone chose to watch college wrestling over soccer?

If Aug. 1st comes & both Clemson & FSU haven't announced for the B12 I'll quit blogging & Twitter forever.

This guy had a write up about Big 12 looking to the ACC in January.

I firmly believe, if this conference is to move forward and prosper, outside of expansion, increasing rights deals, etc., we need to do two things:

1) We need to create a much stronger academic consortium that unites our conference schools in research with the purpose of raising the academic ratings of our member schools.

2) Create and/or expand the set of "core sports" that we require member schools to participate in.  This means KSU would need to add soccer and softball, Iowa State needs to add baseball, etc.  We look like a second rate conference because we treat a lot of non-revenue sports like a buffet that you can pick and choose from.  If money isn't the issue it once was, we should expect our schools to step up to the plate and create a much more united front in this regard.

Also, if K-State is serious about selling subscriptions to their network, this would provide quality inventory.

If we're going to lose at women's soccer we might as well recruit the super hot ones, right?

Not having these programs is embarrassing.  I wonder how many BCS schools don't have women's soccer or softball or gymnastics or swimming & diving.  I would bet that number is less than 3, likely less than 2.  As panj said this is an institutional and conference failure.

That WV board is expansion central, ND guy stops by and drops this nugget, no way to know if it is legit or not

Adding my information to the discussion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Salutations WVU fans and Big 12 fans alike.
I have been reading this board for a few weeks now and have finally decided to apply for access here and post.
First, a little background information on myself.
I am a graduate and football letterman from Notre Dame and currently work in their athletic department.  I am a market analyst for them and have done research for  them in the past in regards to conference affiliation with the Big East. I do not normally frequent the scout boards but I do provide what inside information I do get on Irishenvy from time to time.  I stumbled across this board looking for a good place to talk conference realignment-this seems to be the most active and diverse board out there right now.
I am intrigued by your poster MHVER3.  He has had a lot of the same info I have been getting in regards to the playoffs, revenue sharing, etc.  What he has said that intrigues me the most is this master-plan he speaks of that Chuck Neinas is handing down to his successor.  I am wondering if it is the same plan i have heard circulating around the offices.
You see, Notre Dame knows that our time in the Big East is nearing it's end.  I also know that as long as we get a track to the title we will not join any conference in football.
I also know that Mr Neinas has been in constant talks with our President and our Athletic Director about joining your conference. We had reps at your meetings this week.  We know the plan to try and snag Clemson and Florida State from the ACC.  We also know that Boren and Luck want 14.

But did anyone here know that Neinas wants to get 15 to go to 14?
I believe MHVER3 does.
I have sent him a private message and hope he responds.  I can't really talk about it in detail but I believe it's really not that hard to figure out what I am talking about.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and I look forward to participating in as many good discussions here as I have already read

There was a thread on here or the silver lot saying that person had talked with Coach Huggs and he said ND was a done deal in all sports except football and that they would play 6 B12 games a season as a partial member in football. This along with Clemson and FSU. True or not that seems to be the new Runor.

I think he was meaning we would have 15 teams but only 14 football teams. (Notre Dame)

Neither am I, if they come great, if not whatever.

There was speculation that this would be done to put a knife in the ACC since they are dangling the prospect of ND to keep their football centric members happy.

Yeah, I would probably change my mind on this if I thought we had a shot at getting into that rotation.

Having Notre Dame in a conference in everything....plus 50% of its football games it a huge win.  That would add a tremendous amount of viewers....and $$ bills ya'll.
