1) We need to create a much stronger academic consortium that unites our conference schools in research with the purpose of raising the academic ratings of our member schools.

2) Create and/or expand the set of "core sports" that we require member schools to participate in.  This means KSU would need to add soccer and softball, Iowa State needs to add baseball, etc.  We look like a second rate conference because we treat a lot of non-revenue sports like a buffet that you can pick and choose from.  If money isn't the issue it once was, we should expect our schools to step up to the plate and create a much more united front in this regard.

Not having these programs is embarrassing.  I wonder how many BCS schools don't have women's soccer or softball or gymnastics or swimming & diving.  I would bet that number is less than 3, likely less than 2.  As panj said this is an institutional and conference failure.

There is already some minor qhat soccer hooliganning that goes on at old stadium for the club team.    at the idea of doing it for a scholarship NCAA team.

I am intrigued by your poster MHVER3.  He has had a lot of the same info I have been getting in regards to the playoffs, revenue sharing, etc.  What he has said that intrigues me the most is this master-plan he speaks of that Chuck Neinas is handing down to his successor.  I am wondering if it is the same plan i have heard circulating around the offices. 
You see, Notre Dame knows that our time in the Big East is nearing it's end.  I also know that as long as we get a track to the title we will not join any conference in football.
I also know that Mr Neinas has been in constant talks with our President and our Athletic Director about joining your conference. We had reps at your meetings this week.  We know the plan to try and snag Clemson and Florida State from the ACC.  We also know that Boren and Luck want 14. 

But did anyone here know that Neinas wants to get 15 to go to 14?

This along with Clemson and FSU. True or not that seems to be the new Runor.

 There was speculation that this would be done to put a knife in the ACC since they are dangling the prospect of ND to keep their football centric members happy.
