  This in the short term. And, Rutgers is a sleeping giant in many respects.  It is a new state, an East Coast anchor and a HUGE school.

I'm good with 14, and in a lot of ways, I'd prefer it, but we may not go that route.  There's a big drop off in football from Louisville and Rutgers to UConn and Cincy in terms of facilities.  UConn has a brand new stadium, but it's small.  Cincy has the smallest on-campus stadium in the BCS (I believe).

I think UConn brings value in basketball, but football, they don't bring much.

As long as the schools can scare up the cash, they're free to bolt.

On a side note, this has to have UConn, Cincy, and USF going into scramble mode right now.  Louisville is as good as gone.  Rutgers has been open about talking with the ACC and Big Ten, and there's been a ton of smoke out there about the Big 12 for them, too.

This ruling essentially says, if I understand it correctly, that they're going to be forced to settle monetarily.  If that's the precedent, the exodus planning for WVU, Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Louisville will begin almost immediately.  UConn and Cincy will be begging the ACC and Big 12 to let them in.  USF will be on a bridge somewhere threatening to jump.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but the non-binding part would be whatever agreement/decision the arbitrator/mediator ends with.  In other words, the court told them to go figure it out, but whatever is figured out isn't legally binding so one can ignore it and not be liable.  That's usually what non-binding arbitration or mediation is.
