Guys...Mizzou is going to stay.  Let WVU destroy the Big East so it all falls apart.

They're currently threatening to hold all teams to that stupid 27 months agreement with a buyout.  If WVU leaves, the whole thing is falling apart, and we go back to 12 in a fortnight.

Just let it play out.

I mean, hey, the SEC is planning on staying at thirteen for the next several years, right?

We should just have the presser today that we plan on adding Louisville, West Virginia, and Notre Dame, then just go out and get them.

I do think we need ND for everything but football.  That way when we do go to 16, they have foot in door.

That league only going to 10. If MU stays we are done, if they leave we go after Louisville.

Interest cooled on BYU last week.

Why in the rough ridin' world would we not go after BYU.
Tell your bro in-law to get his own conference.

haha.  was at that Bach party w/ Scott last weekend.  he said no way BYU joins Big 12

 :surprised: :peek:

Yeah he always pulls that crap.  He doesn't know what he is talking about though.

Sounds like BYU was looking at football affiliation only and didn't want to move all their minor sports out of that bull crap conference they're all in currently.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

The Big 12 Conference Board of Directors agreed to a formal grant of television rights for a minimum of six years during a teleconference today. The approval by the Board was unanimous; however the University of Missouri did not participate in the vote on the advice of legal counsel.

Interim commissioner Chuck Neinas was authorized by the Board to immediately distribute legal documents for institutional execution. An earlier vote related to equal revenue distribution becomes effective upon the formal assignment of rights by all institutions. The Board did not set a deadline but indicated a desire to expedite the approval process.

The grant of rights was included in a joint resolution proposed by both the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. In addition to the grant of television rights for at least a six-year period, the proposal included agreements related to high school content and access to football games for institutional third-tier telecast packages.

Specifics of the resolution included an agreement that during the term of the grant of rights: there will be no changes related to current or future primary television rights agreements or Conference bylaws, rules or policies related to member institution branded outlet rights; Conference bylaws will reflect that no member institution branded outlet will show high school games or highlights, noting that it is permissible pursuant to NCAA interpretation to use scores, standings and statistics of high school games; and, that additional games beyond the one member institution retained football game for telecast purposes must be approved by both institutions and both Conference telecast partners.

Which is exactly what I thought would happen, which is why all the butthurt about the LHN showing conference games was totally and completely absurd and a utter lie from certain schools.

For every hour that passes before MU commits, they have to pay the Big 12 $1 million. We also tell them we will invite Missouri State, but don't actually invite Missouri State because that would be rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

I'm really starting to believe that every day that passes it becomes less and less likely that the SEC actually wants them.  I'm getting worried that they won't take Mizzou and we'll be stuck in a rough ridin' 10 team league.  Would much rather trade Mizzou for Louisville, Cincinnati, and WVU.

How do you create something like this if you don't know who or how many will eventually be in the confy?

BYU brings little to the table and would have only stuck around for a max of 10 years before becoming unhappy. The geographical divide between the Big 12 and Provo is not as big as the cultural gap. Let's face it, the made an ordeal out of one of their few black athletes breaking a school policy that involved his private life. Yes, he agreed to play by those rules, yes he broke them. But, BYU didn't have to make it everyone else's business. The rule he broke already conflicts with what most potential male college athletes expect from the "college experience," but then the school made it public. BYU will always want to do it's own thing. I think we've had enough of that in this conference. Besides they really don't bring all that much to the table, if they did the PAC 12 would have gone after them relentlessly.

The ONLY reason MU stays is if they don't get an SEC invite or there is some other large obstacle that cannot be overcome.  Again, from (one of) the horses mouth.  I'm a D+ source on most things KSU, I'm an A+ source on MU.  I'm not saying they won't stay, I'm saying their decision is made and only something OUTSIDE their control keeps them from the SEC.

I pretty much agree with this.  Sorry, Dax.

I want West Virginia now that BYU is out.

I'm becoming more certain we're going to botch this whole thing. One of these crap teams does nothing for our situation. TCU is an average to poor choice. West Virginia will be grabbed up by the ACC or SEC soon, because we're too stupid to actually add a program with a pulse. Those are rare at the moment and would add some measure of security in 6 years or whenever UT and OU decide to torture us with leaving again. If we're looking at mid-majors there are few brands as hot as Boise State the past decade. Louisville's ok at best if football is what matters. BYU has a pretty huge football brand, countless league titles and a national championship.

Instead we're adding UT neighbors so all their games can be "home games" and talking about Tulane. Just a bunch of meeker little bitches to get kicked around. Just watch Schultz and others sit with their thumbs up their asses and wait for the 2nd coming of the SWC and the inevitable 2nd demise of the SWC. It’s all about the brand and marketing that brand. There is nothing appealing about replacing a desireable brand with a single crap brand and hoping ESPN/ABC and Fox won’t notice.

If we choose to stay at ten, my feelings regarding this conference will really sour.

All TCU is is another school that will easily give in when UT tries to force the league to allow them to air a conference game on LHN.  If we stay at 10, all the expansion committee did was provide more content to the LHN.  That's rough ridin' it.  If Mizzou stays and thats the end of it... :goodbyecruelworld:

You are seeing some strong sentiment in favor of this league staying at10. I think the bottom line ($$$) at 12 members wasn't going to work.

We are letting the $$$ eff up what could be a wonderful thing to be nothing more that a group of UT and OU's bitches to help them get to the NC game in football.
