See the forest through the trees.   It's not about TV sets, or market share or anything like that.

Nobody gives a f_ck about basketball in these discussions.

Right, but what does TCU really bring to the table in football?

The Dallas market is already covered with UT.  Are we adding a national brand?  A viable contender for more BCS appearances?

wow.  at least i have something to tell my grand kids some day- i was BBS'n the day the Big 12 died.

TCU rocks a massive 7000 undergrad population.

I've lived in Dallas for 20 years, no one here even knows they exists.  Well played UPKS, well rough ridin' played.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Someone said TCU has more BCS appearances than CU/A&M/MU combined.

what's it about dax?

Quote
1.  TCU was likely going to be in the discussion in expansion anyway.

2.  Recruiting Texas, how many times does it need to be said, when you can tell Texas recruits they'll be back in Texas at least 8 times during their playing time at K-State, that's HUGE.

3.  Keeps 4 Texas Big 12 schools on the streets of Texas for recruits, which helps thwart SEC influence, yet TCU is not as strong as A&M on the trail which can help Northern Big 12 Schools.

4.  Easy road trip for K-State fans.

WuShock would have been an easier road trip, so would Washburn.  approx the same undergrad count as well.

Oh yeah, one more kind of important thing . . . it helps keep the Big 12 together, you know, kind of important if you're K-State.

But I see, now you all have grand delusions, but I hate to tell you kids, theose delusions are filled with K-State NOT in a BCS conference.

Think about it.

dax (thinks this is good) vs everyone else (thinks this sucks) is a semi-bizarro world situation.

Will be sweet when we actually get a coaching staff that can convince some TX kids this.   :lynchmob:

K-State was never not going to be in a BCS.  sorry dax, but your delusion knows no bounds

most of the stuff I've read has been about how Texas and the rest of the B12 schools didn't want another TX school because it would elevate them to a higher level and make one more TX school to recruit against.  I don't know if I buy that or not, but that's what I've read.

Who said BYU or Louisville was off the table?

It's 2 different, but equally important strategic moves IMO.

Once we have a staff that can recruit, having games in Texas to sell will be significant, keeping 4 Texas based Big 12 schools in the hallways and talking up the Big 12 in Texas is signficant.

MU ain't stayin unless they absolutely have no other choice, then you add a BYU or Louisville.

Clams . . . just because you've always thought K-State doesn't belong in a BCS conference doesn't mean jack$hit right now.

1.) That's debatable

2.) Back in Texas 6 times or 8 times. WGAF. It's still more than any conference can claim and it's not an advantage for K-State vs. other Big 12 schools.

3.) Adding A&M will help SEC recruiting in TX, but it's not going to take over the Big 12 assuming it stays together.

4.) We go to Dallas on road trips whether its through Waco, Austin or formerly College Station. We already go there every few years for the Big 12 tourney. We want a new rough ridin' place, Dax.

Sure it's debateable, thanks Captain Obvious . . . some of you have clearly never had to sell or market anything in your life.    Oh, and those "new places" will be visits to Greeley, CO and over to the Air Force Academy, bi-annual trips to Fresno.   Great if you want to be a tourist and hate K-State.  Squawks being outed all over the place today.

we aren't adding any more teams now.  UT and OU will command the decision to keep us at 10 and don't want to deal with any more 35-7's, they don't need the additional revenue like k-state does.

This.

It's fairly obvious the Big 12 is staying. So cut the bullshit with Greeley and Fresno.

Actually, it appears TCU undergrad enrollment in on a par with that of other BCS private schools. Undergrad enrollment at Notre Dame, 8,371; Duke, 6,500; Vanderbilt, 6,879; Northwestern, 8,400; Wake Forest, 4,400; Boston College, 9,000.
Where Duke, Northwestern and Vanderbilt outdistance TCU is in grad school enrollment, which obviously points to their more elite academic status. Had a school of that reputation been what the conference was searching for, Tulane would have been the choice.

I don't mind adding TCU, just don't agree with some of the reasoning being presented.  Seems like bullshit.

Agree with this.

But would also take West Virginia when Missouri bolts.
