We have TV contracts now. They're not keeping teams from leaving our conference.

That's why they are granting TV revenue rights to the conference. TV contracts only control what networks and when, and how much money the networks pay the conference. So the conference as a whole is bound to the networks. The grant of rights controls revenue sharing and binds the individual schools together. If you leave the conference after contractually agreeing to share your TV rights w/ the other schools, you still have to share your TV revenue with the conference you just left until that contract is fulfilled (expires).

So Texas agreed to share for 6 years but they won't agree to the 10 years that Missouri wanted. So now Missouri is trying to leave. Is that right?

But you think that Texas will actually have to share for 13+ years anyway because we'll have a new TV contract?

If the Big 12 were to expand beyond 10, TCU would have likely been one of those schools anyway. The Big 12 probably saw them as the easiest to get right now, so they take them, make the Big East less stable while making the Big 12 look more stable, possibly add more teams from the dying Big East and convince BYU to join.

I've moved an earlier thread about this to the Politics board. First of all, this is the football board. Second, it is a topic that is filled with strong, passionate feelings on all sides. It is also a complex issue requiring more than just a fleeting glance to understand and appreciate all points of view.

Combine those two things and you have great potential for divisiveness over the issue which is not something I want on this board. So I have instructed the moderators to move any and all discussions about Confederate topics to the Politics board.

Discussing Quantrill causes enough of an uproar on here, I surely don't want to refight the whole Civil War.
