My source (wife's younger brother's fraternity brother's uncle/relative works in OU's AD dept) said that big xii is last option for OU. They want pac 12, but can't do unless osu comes (state politics) and atm leaves for sec (fear of legal crap). Nothing about KU/ksu.

I'm guess the whole talk about pac 12 waiting for sec to move first has some truth?

And the SEC won't take A&M unless Baylor promises not to sue, but Baylor won't promise not to sue until OU signs a commitment to the Big 12...We now wait until someone blinks...

exactly.  baylor is delaying the inevitable. 

As they should, it's in their best interest, the longer they drag this out, the more likely the outcome is more beneficial to them,  It's like MLK said (paraphrasing) "use non-violent tension to create an environment where those who were less likely to negotiate with you are now more likely to negotiate with you and are more likely to concede their position".  (and you guys thought I was racist because I don't like KU's chancellor.)

idk. i mean, the only thing that somewhat makes sense is a big company like espn/disney/abc wanting things to stay the way they are and a conference maybe not wanting to make them mad? dunno, that's really reaching i guess. also maybe the conference that triggers it all could be more susceptible to legal action. again extremely reaching.

It's because while he wants to expand, a portion of his bosses (4-6 UPs) don't want to unless they have to.  The only way he can leverage those UPs into giving him the authority to expand is if they believe they have to in order to keep up with other conferences.  Larry Scott would love to go pick up OU and OSU right now, he just doesn't have enough support from those that give him the authority to do so.

That I don't understand.  My take is just that Scott wants to grow, some UPs do not, and that Scott has convinced them that they need to "keep up".  That's the angle he is taking with them.  Maybe it's a risk/reward thing.  Once they feel that superconferences are inevitable (someone else move towards it first), then they must start taking risks to make sure that their supply of new teams doesn't run out.  They may feel that the if the SEC goes to 16, they might go after OU, so they better lock up OU before the SEC can.
