Fresno State and Nevada will remain in the Western Athletic Conference in all sports until July 2012 before leaving for the Mountain West and, in exchange, will pay a lower exit fee after reaching an agreement with the WAC this week, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.com Wednesday.

The remaining six WAC schools held a conference call Wednesday night to approve the agreement. The WAC will make an announcement Thursday. Terms of the negotiated exit fee weren't known.

as has been said it this thread a handful of times big 12 isnt looking at texas schools. the big east voted to expand to 10 football schools at that meeting you linked a few posts above. what ive read tcu and houston would be their top two choices. tcu and houston really want to get into a bcs conference and the big east would like a presence in texas.

So OU has 3000 more on campus than K-State. Yes they may have a long sustained tradition but alumni are what generate your fan base out side your state. The numbers are not there.

You're completely ignoring the fact that a large chunk of OU fans are NOT alumni.  So you can show enrollment numbers all you want, but that means jack for this discussion.  Teams like OU gather up large amounts of non-attending fans (bandwagon, t-shirt fans, whatever you'd like to call them) and THOSE people are huge for ratings.
