Yup.  And expanding on that, I think that leads to divisions of UT/TT/Bay/TCU/WVU and OU/OSU/KSU/KU/ISU.  That allows them to maximize their potential corporate sponsorship and revenue for the game by selling "90% of the time the game will include a Texas school."

I "think" it's because that almost kills any chance we have of getting two teams in the playoff series.

So, if OU and UT are in the same "division", but they both end the year 11-1, and the top of the other division was a 10-2 Baylor (or something), then you'd have a better shot of getting 12-1 OU in the playoff and an 11-1 Texas in one of those other New Year's day bowls as an at large.

Also, as we move forward with a title game, the Pac-12 has a nine game schedule with a CCG. They all play 75% of their conference each year. In fact, in five years of their new format, the last four years have featured a title game that was a rematch of an early season game. In 2012, UCLA and Stanford faced each other in the last week of the season and then turned around and played the title game the following week.

Yes, I think a CCG in a round robin is a little absurd. However, I don’t think we’ll be worse off than the Pac-12, to be honest. Also, we’re going to make a LOT more money than their schools do, overall, by the time this is all said and done.

What if we start negotiating with the Mountain West. They got like 50 million as a confy last year, I bet K-State can increase that about 10-15 million. Let's make a deal with them that we'll take around 60% of the conference revenue to join them.

Bring in around 35-40mill a year and be the Texas of the MWC.

West Virginia would rightfully lose their crap. If they are going to divisions, which they should, there is no reason to put all of those Texas schools in one division with one non Texas school.

I once saw a K-State shirt in Europe, and also one in Hawaii. We're pretty much a global brand on a similar scale as the Dallas Cowboys, I'd guess.

I don't know why people keep parroting this because it's absolutely not true...

The Big 12 needs to find a way to make league membership as attractive as possible. There are certain things that can’t be changed. The conference will always – always – trail the Big Ten and SEC in revenue and struggle to keep up with the Pac-12 and ACC, too.

Maybe if you just look at what our T1 and T2 payouts are, but we all have our own agreements that aren't included in that payout that close that gap. 

KSU made more last year than any ACC or Pac-12 school.  OU made as much as anyone in the SEC.  Texas made more than anyone, period.

And it's not like we're talking some immense revenue gap, here.  It's one or two million, if not hundreds of thousands.

It's difficult for me to imagine a scenario where the other conferences feel compelled to snatch up these other Big 12 teams, but to stop short of KSU. A much more likely scenario IMO is that Texas and/or OU leave, and the Big 12 keeps the name with an informal demotion into the new "group of six."

Also, once football starts to die down in 20-30 years, who is going to care about conferences? I'll still get to watch my Cats on K-StateHD and they'll have a shot to get into the NCAA Tourney every year!

Would UT have the critical mass to keep the Big 12 a power 6 conference?  Don't think so.  If OU leaves, UT will probably leave too.  Then we're MW or Mac (not a power conference).
