I don't think it will be nothing.

I think they are going to balance the monetary aspect, the playoff chance aspect, the impact of what it looks like if we do nothing, etc.

I think there is a strong sense in that room that being the Big 12-2 for the next nine years and playing a round robin w/ CCG is going to destroy this conference.  Even if it pisses off ESPN and Fox.  They're better off taking their chances and taking two teams and begging for forgiveness in eight years as opposed to doing nothing and getting mocked mercilessly for the same amount of time.

Considering that we are scheduled to call schools this afternoon to tell them our decision, I would highly doubt UC knows anything. They are most likely just preparing in case it occurs.

Well, it doesn't mean we didn't call the ones we are selecting in advance.

I mean, if they say, we are expanding, and we are selecting two schools, both have been notified and both have accepted invitations to the conference, and then later this evening, both BYU and UC call press conferences, then it shows decisiveness. 

Here's the thing...we can't look fractured if we're going to get out of this ditch.  It has to be stated as easy and unanimous, even if it isn't.  The Kirk Bohls tweet of this going faster than expected sets you up for that narrative.

Definitively say we're going to expand.  Say the choices were unanimous and easy.  Get moving quickly because these schools need to be in this conference next year if humanly possible.

Meetings over.  UT, OSU, WVU (on expansion committee), TCU, TT presidents have all left with their bags.  Have to think if we were expanding, they'd stick around.

Going quickly has to be a bad sign for expansion. No way there was that little discussion and voting occurring. Sounds like majority, if not all, decided not to expand and that was all it took to kill it for now.

Is it? This is a regular meeting, you make it seem like the big 12 called a meeting to expand and then got there and changed their minds. We have had indications for a while now that they aren't going to expand, so it seems like a five hour meeting is what would be expected.

Well, the decision probably wasn't that hard.  They have spoken to consultants, determined 12 was the best way to go to get to the playoff, and they've done a crap ton of preliminary work prior to this meeting.

It's been a three way race for a while now.  There has been a lot of Houston push-back for numerous reasons, so there's really only two candidates left.

It's possible that ESPN/Fox scared them from considering expansion, and that's why the meeting was so fast.

It's hard to say, one way or the other, what the speed of the meeting "means".
