And even that's false, because radio/rivals said the other day, that eastern Texas is like the hottest bed for top talent in the US.

It attempt to replace them you mean. UH is ina. huge city, in a huge state, where virtually nobody gives a crap about them. If they were wildly popular, even in just Houston, there would be some reason to add them. But they aren't.

The Big 12 already has the lion's share of the state of Texas. Adding anyone not named aTm would be fruitless.

K-State sticks in a Pac12 added conference because Kstate brings dedicated college athletics oriented viewership.   Yeah, I get it, total TV's matter, they matter a lot.  But eyes on in this day and age of massive media diversification matters a lot and that grows every day.    Particularly when you're talking dedicated networks.

Its a bigger school than TTech, Baylor and TCU. They play in a brand new 40,000 seat stadium. I'm pretty sure its 42,000+ students think it's pretty hip. Not sure you're operating under a well founded premise.

my only issue is it's one more Texas school.   I don't want them ganging up on us anymore than they already do (see UT prez tweet above)

This. I'm just sick of Texas schools, but I think they're more valuable than Baylor and TCU.

Multiple Austin media on radio and print including AM 1300, 1260, and the Austin American statesman are reporting the Big 12 must add Houston to prevent the SEC or PAC 12 from using Houston to poach Texas High School football talent.
The SEC will expand to 16 when current tv contract expires and the SEC will add Houston to take a strangelhold on the Houston market which produced more NFL players thaan anywhere else. UT and OU want to stop further SEC encroachment into Texas so the Big 12 is not hitching its wagon to Houston.

“I’m hearing that if they’re going to expand, it’s most likely going to be by four rather than two,” Brown said, “because of provisions in the TV contract that call for the TV partners to pay equal share of the revenue right now for up to six schools added to the league.”

If four schools are added, Brown believes that Houston, Cincinnati and BYU would top the Big 12 wish list.
