Are you counting "ESPN Gameplan" as an ESPN Network?

If UNC parlayed their Football into an $11.1 million dollar a yearTier III contract, than Dick Baddour is a genius who should have a statue made of him in gold now that he's retired.

LOL on the new ACC deal

http://www.bizjournals.com/triad/news/2012/05/10/insights-into-the-accs-new-tv-deal.html

Quote
Per the contract, the full $3.6 billion will come to the Atlantic Coast Conference in an escalated formula. North Carolina State, for example, will receive $12.3 million in the first year of the deal, about $1 million more than it received in television disbursements last year.

The Wolfpack won’t actually see $17 million until about year nine, estimates Chris Kingston, executive senior associate athletics director at N.C. State. Universities will receive more in subsequent years, up to about $23 million by year 15, Kingston says.

I was wrong in my statement, however I don't think it changes if UNC or Duke have Tier 3 inventory or not.  UNC had 2 games on espn3 only, but the UNC website does not list any other TV coverage.  This may be where part of UNC's $11MM is coming from and their website just doesn't list local, tier 3.  Also both teams had a few games on the ACC Network/EPSN3, but that's still not tier 3.  Every Duke game I mentioned besides the one on Raycom was on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or the ACC Network.

I should also note I didn't include exhibition games.  I forgot that BB had exhibition and FB does not.  However, I don't think you can say FSU feels like they are getting screwed by the ACC here since this is true nation wide and no one's TV contract includes exhibition BB.

Also, I'm not saying FSU shouldn't be upset about the ACC contract.  All I'm saying is I don't think they are looking at Duke and saying "look, Duke is getting all kinds of $ from their Tier 3 BB while we aren't getting the same treatment for FB."  I don't think the money Duke could bring in from 1 BB game is close to the money FSU could bring in for 1 FB game.

I understand the money per game Ham . . . but FSU is handing over their most potentially profitable Tier III inventory, while the basketball schools retain their most profitable Tier III inventory.

Lolz, even worse.

I just called in to 610 and pointed out to NW that FSU in CU need the 10 million more a year they can get in the big12 to compete with UF and uSC. He said good point but fans dont want to travel...then debated with carm on whether or not the audience hates carm or him more.  :blindfold:

The Travel thing is so overplayed, its not like FSU is sitting right on top all the ACC teams, its 350 miles from Clemson, its 450 miles from Miami, its 1300 miles from BC.

Yep..pulled this from a nole board. Travel isn't too much different for them at all

Quote
You are correct, there isn't as much difference in travel as many ACC fans would leave you to believe:

Distance to Divisional Opponents

ACC Atlantic Division (Distance in air miles from Tallahassee)
Clemson - 303
Wake Forest - 453
NC State - 492
Maryland - 721
Syracuse - 978
Boston College - 1094
AVG - 673.5 miles

BIG 12 EAST
Clemson - 303
West Virginia - 678
Kansas - 856
Kansas State - 922
Iowa State - 954
AVG - 742.6 miles

If say, Georgia Tech and Miami join you in the Big 12, the numbers would look like this:BIG 12 EAST
Georgia Tech - 231
Clemson - 303
Miami - 406
West Virginia - 678
Kansas - 856
Kansas State - 922
AVG - 566.0 miles

Miles from Tallahassee for the rest of the Big 12 schools
Baylor - 766
TCU - 784
Texas - 804
Oklahoma - 830
Oklahoma State - 836
Texas Tech - 1053

Rumor on the WVU Scout board is that Louisville will be first, Clemson will be second, and FSU will come with someone else in the fall.

Take one from big east, take one from ACC.  Make FSU panic.  ND will have no choice but to go Big 12 or big 10.

I waffle quite a bit on what I think FSU and CU will do. On the one hand, I simply don't see how they turn down that much money. We're talking at least upper 20's per team, per year vs 16/17M. No matter how you slice it, it's looking like around $10M more per year.

OTOH, the mob seems to shift back and forth between being for it and against it. We probably need some socks to go over there and tell FSU/CU that they won't be good enough to compete in the Big 12. Seemed to work for MU and aTm. They got a big chip on their shoulder over that. Once the mob unites, it will be over. Just depends on which way the mob goes.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

I've actually got cousins in Tallahassee and at Clemson... after talking this week, seems that the student body that's aware of this move is in favor of it, because of money, and its a smart football move. I'll tell em to rile the masses even more, maybe we can get a verbal from admins by late summer

The mob has fully started shifting to the Big 12.

        http://blogs.orlandosentinel.c...rida-state.html

And to PasadenaJacket, prestige and $1.00 will buy you a value coffee at McDonalds. We don't receive the $500 MM a year in research money GT does so why don't you mind your own business and let FSU subsidize your decision to be mediocre in athletics. This is not a research discussion, it's an athletic conference. You and your school are part of the problem.

We haven't received one dime from our academic affliliation with the ACC, so that prestige you talk about means squat.

I don't know about you Wekiva, but I'm pretty pissed at swofford and his "caught looking at the third strike" plate appearance with espn and the renegotiation.

Geez! Please God, let us get out of this damn conference and go where we are wanted and where we will be treated with respect!!

And if more and more of the elitest snobs keep butting into this thread from other schools - SHUT THE DAMN THING DOWN!!!

I wish we could get a poll for  FSU alum and students (past and present) only, to see how WE feel about moving now.

Yeah, Swofford is an idiot and has run this conference into the ground. Laughingly, he's from North Carolina like Tar-Healed. Birds of a feather.

Anyway, I'm confident that our people are doing their due diligence. Just curious, does this new ACC deal with ESPN require a grant of rights?

GOR or not, I think that ESPN has sent a clear message to the ACC what it's value is to them. Football drives the bus and the ACC has no intention of tuning up the bus.

I honestly think when all is said and done, we make the move. The reason I say this is because of UF. We cannot afford to fall further behind as far as money goes. This ACC deal is our financial death-knell in competing with UF. Interestingly, that link about the LHN and Oklahoma's network (a few posts up), I did not realize the Big 12 frees us up to have our own network, something Florida and Miami would never be able to do under their current deals. To me, that's a huge recruiting advantage, even against UGA, Alabama and Auburn where we do pretty well in terms of recruits, they would not have this as well.

Yeah, pretty interesting about that possible Seminole Network. I can just see the turds whinning to the sec and the FL Legislature already.

I think a move is pretty inevitable as well. Just too much money at stake. Plus with the sec raiding the Big XII territory, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that the Big XII will want to return the favor.

I would like to see the clumpies reaction to the tv deal. I'll bet they're pissed as well. Could make things happen pretty quickly too.

I'm not sure about any GOR - isn't that something the conference has to vote on seperate from any tv deal. The way I understand it, the Big XII voted on theirs before the tv deal was even put together as a way to stabilize the conference. My God! That will probably be the first thing sloppford will want to do after this mess. Look for him to try to ram it down the members throats first chance he gets. It's really the only way he can save the acc - but I doubt that anyone will go for it. Probably everyone but unc is pissed right now, and the first thing on the agenda at the next meeting will be the vote of confidence (or should I say "lack" of confidence) concerning sloppford.

Be watching espn daily now. We could see something fairly quick.

I'll say it again, the ACC is a basketball conference, the only reason why the ACC got FSU and then Miami and VT was because they looked out there and realized that their football sucked.   FSU walked in the door and completely dominated the conference, so then they went and got VT and Miami, and yet they still can't got over the hump and have like a .187 winning % in BCS bowls.

Then to prove how big of a football conference they are, they went and added Pitt and Syracuse.   Pitt who plays in an off campus NFL stadium in front of 35,000 a game and Syracuse who plays football to keep their basketball arena warm.
