This entire saga has been Mike DeArmond's swan song to use whatever influence he can to get Missouri into the place he thinks they should be.

And the really sad thing is that since he's retiring, he can really get away with it.

They still don't even have an offer, no matter what anyone is telling him.  If Missouri actually had one, they'd be long gone by now.

At this point, I think the odds of them actually getting one are probably down somewhere in the 10-15% range.  The SEC is going to have to get really desperate to invite them now.

NEW YORK (AP) -- An official in the Big East tells The Associated Press that the conference plans to double its exit fee to $10 million dollars, then invite Boise State, Navy and Air Force as football-only members, and Central Florida as a member in all sports.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the Big East had not authorized anyone to speak publicly about its plans, said Commissioner John Marinatto was in Cincinnati meeting with representatives from UCF.

The official said those invites could be out as early as next week.

The Big East said earlier this week it wanted to expand to 12 football schools.

Why not BYU?  I understood why the Big 12 didnt invite them, but surely the Big East would be more willing to make concessions.  Plus, they would be a good travel partner with Boise.  Also, the $10M exit fee doesnt seem like much.  I say that because aTm is going to give up twice that in revenue withholding and didnt even think twice about it.  Actually, I'm not completly sure they thought about it once.

There is zero chance they lose it. The final BCS standings of Boise over the last few years will all but ensure that the Big East keeps their bid at least into the next decade. If they lose West Virginia and Louisville, they are in trouble. Otherwise, it will be pretty much impossible for them to actually lose their AQ status.

Wow.  This article listing the SEC rankings is incredibly sobering.

It's black and white and highly suggested reading.

After seeing MU's position in every statistical ranking, financial and other, MU is about to go become the SEC's new Kentucky, without the National Championship caliber basketball program.

Edit:  After reading again, the ONLY category MU would even statistically rank higher than #11 in the 14 member league would be basketball expenditures.
