That's a Cadillac working chute, BTW.  Not surprised this is the SD ranch we're talking about.

That hoodie is great.

As someone who has never had their arm inside of a cow or any other animal...What exactly are you looking for? Do you really just slide it up the poop shoot and feel if there is a baby cow growing in the cows uterus? Slide it up the vag into the uterus to check for a lump of baby cow?

What happens if you find out one of your cows isn't pregnant? Straight to the butcher because she is a eff up?

yeah, first one is right. we document them and if they swing and miss at strike two it's game over. unless they are already pretty old then you only get one swing and miss. also have a process to potency test bulls. somewhat similar process actually but replace your arm with an electric shocker deal.

My dad retired from farming this year. He just got tired of it. He also has a new girlfriend but he was getting tired of it before he met her

Let's talk snow fences and their effectiveness at catching extra moisture in WKS.

Last fall my dad had his failed Milo crop bailed for feed and the bails stayed there until May when they planted corn on the field. My dad noticed that where snow had piled up around the Milo bales in the field his failed corn crop looked better/taller this year.

When I was out pheasant hunting last month I helped him install 2 shitty plastic netting TEMU snow fences that were maybe 100ft long in part of the field. It's basically nothing but now he is all in on the idea and just purchased some wood snow fences.

"Potential.
Unrealized in the back of the truck.  Wooden snow fence." Was the text.

Like retire retire and sell everything or just partially retire and still own the land but not do everything? The former is pretty rare.

He didn't own a ton of land but is keeping it and selling all farm corporation assets. My brother in law and his dad are probably buying it all.

Hadley Panzer is one of the few college football players in the entire country who knows exactly what the future holds for him. Things like the transfer portal and the NFL Draft don’t mean anything to him now that his productive four-year run with the Kansas State Wildcats has come to a close. He has another career in mind. “I’m going home to farm,” Panzer said shortly after he helped K-State beat Rutgers 44-41 last week at the Rate Bowl in Phoenix.

I hope you guys are all around and we still have this blessed place for when I inherit the farm I don't want some day. It will basically be all of our farm (except none of you will get any money).

Are there any Gardiner Angus genes on the SD ranch? Dad used to get their catalog.

When I was a kid the vet came out to preg check some heifers and I was not paying attention when he got done. He pulled off the OB glove and flipped it toward me where it wrapped around my neck. Took me a few seconds to realize that he had turned the glove inside out before tossing it at me.

Bullet hole to noggin or heart attack when he saw all the cows and heifers ready for service?
