New money making idea for the cat ranch according to my dad.

My dad has this sweet sweet old school trailer he bought and used to bring back 3 feeder cows he bought at the sale barn a couple of years ago. (1 died, the vet had to visit, the other two escaped and after a month he took the other 2 back to the sale barn and sold them).

Look at this hot piece of ass

Ben ji "Why are you keeping it?"
dad "Well In case I need to move any cattle and I got a good deal on it"
Ben ji " You don't have any cattle"
dad " I might take it up to Nebraska, they will pay you $1000 each to take some wild burros back with you but the government requires covered trailers to haul them back in"
Ben ji "So you can just go pickup some wild burros in Nebraska and the government gives you $1000?"
dad "I think so, will probably start with 4 and see how that goes. They will be good to keep the coyotes away"

I honestly had no idea what he was talking about and a quick 30 second Google search provided this....Are we going to be a cat/Burros ranch?!?

what type of burro are we talking about here?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

At my age the last sweet-smelling and tasty ass I had was around Easter.  It was a honey-glazed ham.  :D

Nothing better than cruising a dusty, itchy field in an enclosed tractor-cab; hopefully with a working AC.  Pray for no breakdowns in 95-degree heat.  Reminds me of my high school summers; only my old man didn't believe in enclosed cabs so he removed the windows.  It was fun times.

It rained some the other day in SW KS and I probably got 25 texted pictures of rain gauges. Doesn’t get any purer than that folks. Just unbridled joy at the weather.

I'm guessing they read in 100's of inches since rain gauges around Colby are only in "points"  LOL

Tom’s post prompted me to text my mom to get a rain gauge update. 2.4 inches!  :excited:

Ma reports rain in hundredths. Not points.

Some very cool pics from the Inman, KS harvest festival. They brought out a bunch of old machines for demonstration to celebrate 150 years since the Mennonites brought Turkey Red winter wheat to KS:

That guy would not be the sneezing type.

My dad says the old machines (eg JD 95) used to make a lot less dust just because their was less material passing thru.

Amazing to consider the transition from threshing wheat with a machine fixed in one place to the massive combines of today in less than 100 years's time.

Dad was born in '36.  I have a picture of him with a team of horses at age 12-13.  His last year farming, he ran a 55 Challenger.

Took mom to visit a neighbor farmer who turned 99 this past Memorial Day weekend.  He remembers when my grandfather sold him the horses because they had bought a Farmall tractor.
