How many chickens would I need to keep a family of four in fresh eggs daily?
a good hen will lay about 300 eggs a year. there's some seasonality though, so most days all the hens will lay, but at times (winter mostly), none of them will. some of the more decorative breeds lay less, figure maybe 200 per year (or some hardly lay at all, like the game breeds).
anyways, you can calculate from there how many to feed your family. knowing how big you are, i wouldn't want to guess how many eggs you eat per day.
