After undergoing medical tests on his left knee Wednesday, senior Kansas State forward Nino Williams was told he sustained minor injuries against West Virginia and should be able to return to the basketball court soon, according to Williams’ former guardian Derek Zeck.

“It is just a minor deal,” Zeck said by phone after speaking with Williams. “He had a MRI and nothing major showed up. His playing status may be up in the air. You could call him questionable or day-to-day, but he will be back soon.”

Our chances in Allen Fieldhouse are already slim, but without Nino (I cannot believe I am typing this again) we're significantly less likely to hang in the game. I fear what Alexander will do to us in the post. We're just too soft.

It's official,  no Nino for the big game.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12251421/kansas-state-wildcats-forward-nino-williams-likely-no-9-kansas-jayhawks

Though there is good news:

Quote

Wildcats coach oscar Weber said Thursday that Williams sustained a "strain or sprain," and that he underwent three treatments earlier in the day. There was no structural damage, and Weber said his senior forward would not need surgery.

If oscar can just get one more key guy an injury then he has the needed excuse for this yr.

Yup, next guy with an injury gets treated with a neckbrace no matter what part of his body is hurt.

this team has already overcome so much adversity this season. i mean, no one ever thought they'd recover from the 3-4 month hawaii jet lag, but oscar coached them up and they damn sure did, in less than half the expected time! and of course marcus's deal. man.

so, a player sitting out a game due to injury, that we'd lose anyway?... or would we? so much adversity.

It is crazy how much the TV commentators have latched onto the "Foster Better After Discipline" storyline.

I also agree that if Nino was going to miss any game, this would be the one to miss.

Do any people in the know have any idea what non surgical procedures might have been done on his knee / what that might mean in recovery time?

I am guessing recovery time = when the team needs him the most because that will be the most "adversity overcomeness" possible
