No traps for oscar: Tech ADV
« on: January 14, 2015, 09:40:31 PM »

Ho hum, slow paced games are forgettable, but the ability to avoid these types of losses is big for this team. Nice to have solid play from Westicles and Foster together and nice games from a bunch of other guys. Nothing pretty, but another very good eFG% defensive game and an impressive FT rate are ways you win the ugly games that are bound to happen in Big 12 play.

Disappointed in creating looks through the offense today.

Did not appreciate the unwillingness to rebound, nor many of our out of control attempts at layups.

Otherwise, about what I expected for a mid week game against tech coming off a good win.

4th straight B12 game that we fail to shoot 48.0 eFG.  And Only 12 made 3s in those 4 games.  TO% better past 2 gms, but we must shoot better.

Like clockwork, we are experiencing "low pace effect" from our own announcers. Before the game Stan and Wyatt were talking about our 9 game streak of holding teams "under 65 points". 2 of those were games where OSU and aTm each scored at over 1.05 ppp, but they were slow games at under 60 possessions. Our defense is improving, but we aren't some juggernaut.

We aren't even taking/creating enough looks from behind the arc.

I'd like to see 3PA/FGA over 30%. I was impressed that we held them under 35% on 2s.

Jevon was solid in the 2nd half. I don't understand all the hate on him.

That train is never late....the one where our fanbase gets fooled into thinking we are actually some elite defensive team. KSTATEO supreme.

On another note. We're rough ridin' 3-1 in conference guys! Celebrate small victories in life. I still have a general aversion to BRUCEKETBALL but hot damn I'll take a W however we get it with this bunch.

Tidbits:

1 - Still not sure this team really responds to oscar well. A systemic problem that will put us in the NIT at best.
2 - Jevon is who he is, the guy that we need to play the majority of minutes at the point.
3 - Hurt, still with the man boobs.
4 - I loved when Dave Armstrong went on about the greatness of Ahearn. That was the most enjoyable part of the game, when they weren't talking about the abortion of a game happening at Bramlage tonight.

He had two nice driving layups down the stretch. Would have liked to have seen him try this earlier in the game to loosen things up a bit more, especially for Foster. It seemed like those opportunities were there but he passed them up.

i'm not hating on him.  he's playing like a 3rd string PG, why can't you admit that?
he needs to get better or get out of the way.  i'm ready to see what nigel can do with the same opportunity that jevon has been given.  he surely can be as mediocre as jevon has been and might turn the ball over less.  possessions are very important for this team.

if, as MiR and dave armstrong would have us believe, the OU game was jevon's high water mark, then eff that crap.

I think we should acknowledge that both Nigel and Jevon suck and we should move past the notion that one of them needs to be on the court forty minutes a game.

Also, recruit/cheat our asses off to get a PG in the door as soon as possible.
