man, that jimmy fallon band, the roots?  that guy with the hair pick, he can really drum his drums.

there's nothing racist about it, the band concept makes more sense to white audiences so they're more willing to accept it.
hip hops adaptation of the roland tr-808 began with black dudes, in front of black dudes, listened to by black dudes. the use of technic 1200's for scratching and turning the turntables into an instrument was unique.  all foreign to mainstream white audiences.  most white dudes didn't know anything about an 808 so ya, it's new to them at first.

or you just have cases of crossover success like in cases like run dmc and aerosmith, both opened up themselves to new audiences with walk this way

do white kids care that deadmau5 doesn't play his sets with a band?  no. is he more successful when he doesn't? no.

anyway i think you need to marinate on this thought some more

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Fall has some good concerts in Kansas City, I'm going to

9/26 - The Icarus Line
10/14 - Chance the Rapper
10/22 - Run the Jewels
11/11 - Parquet Courts

I wanted to go to BØRNS but it's sold out

go to Natural Child at the Riot Room tomorrow!

And Diet Cig at Record Bar 9/14!

Best Coast at Record Bar as well? They play lots bigger places out here!

Pure Bathing Culture!

JD Mcpherson and John Moreland!

Of Montreal and Diane Coffee at Record Bar?!? Have they expanded???

Went and saw John Moreland last night.  Really enjoyed his set, didn't stick around long for JD Mcpherson because of other things going on (and lack of interest in their music) but thanks for the heads up on Moreland.

They're both 2016 shows, but Ryan Bingham at the Madrid in January is a show I'm seriously considering, and I've got tickets for STS9 at Liberty Hall in February.  :excited:

I saw Bingham in STL a few months ago, it's a great show.  I saw that announced and picked up tickets yesterday.
How is the Madrid for concerts, this will be my first time at the venue.

Soja only because I had the Mrs with. Lettuce would have been my pick. But I did run into Adam Deitch walking on mass st after the show and got to tell him how amazing Telluride with PL was.

If you're planning on going to the Leon Bridges/Nathaniel Rateliff concert at the Midland you should probably get tix now. I just picked up a pair and the only thing left was balcony. (FYI Nathaniel Rateliff's show at the recordbar got cancelled for this one)

HEALTH at the recordbar last night was ridiculously amazing. Loud, strange, but sometimes beautiful noises. 2nd best show of the year for me after Death Grips

Caught Jamestown Revival and Ryan Bingham at Cain's Ballroom on Sunday.  If you have never been, you must go.  Bingham was absolutely fantastic as well.
