Let me preface this with an "I'm not gE'ing here"...

The Marshall game...  :dunno: Can someone fill me in? It wasn't the Pennington/Moss Miracle years, wtf happened? (I don't mean to dredge up painful memories, just not knowledgeable about this game)

PI's welcome and expected, given the ranking of guts wrenched from the outcome.

2003:

We started out the year top 5, expected to compete for the ship. Our stud QB Ell Roberson got injured in game 3 vs. McNeese state, and didn't play in game 5 vs. Marshall. (we had 5 freaking non-con games, and a conference championship, and a bowl game. 15 game season wow.). Not Chad Pennington year. Marshall ran the ball down our throats, and our back up QB, Jeff Schwinn, was maybe the worst backup OAT and had several bad turnovers. We had a chance to tie at the end, but pass incomplete in the end zone as time expired. We lost 27-20 essentially ending NC hopes.

Just a very bad upset, without our QB, to a mid major at home.

Ell Roberson was hurt and we had no depth at QB; walk-on QB had 3 TOs including a fumbled pitch that Marshall returned 84 yards for a TD. It was ugly.

I'm enjoying Gooch vs. Lutz.

Not football, but Spring '12 #StrutNCut loss in the 'ship game should be on lists.

schwinn ran 21 times for 32 yards in that game. just think about that for a second. also, ell could have played. he was healthy enough but instead of playing ell, the staff just used the same design and insert jeff rough ridin' schwinn instead and then give him the ball more times than darren freaking sproles. wrap your brains around any of that for a second.

Even LFBIQ 18 year old Abe was furious with the play calling. I still think Snyder's family was being held hostage that day.

Auburn in 07.  I wanted very badly for Prince to succeed.  I thought we played well enough to win, and despite the hostile circumstances, alesana alesana, and a young QB.  I feel like we were very conservative with Freems and wouldn't really let him throw downfield.  Then he got sacked and lost the ball and with it the game.  Dagger

Being a Cat fan since the day I was born, thanks to my Godparents, I've seen a lot of gut wrenching losses.
10. 11 Ok State
9. 00 OU
8. 04 KU. I was working at Lowe's at the time, and had a store manager that played at K-State in the early 00's. He told me before the game LHC LHC Bill Snyder will never lose to KU. We were both pretty depressed the next day.
7. 03 Marshall
6. 04 Colorado. Joel effing Klatt was the QB IIRC. Hate his face.
5. 14 Auburn
4. 03 tOSU.
3. 10 NU. I wanted so badly to beat them one last time.
2. 12 Baylor. I was told I could no longer watch games at my in-laws house after that.
1. 98. I've told the story before, but this was supposed to be a bright spot for my family and friends after a really shitty week. My cousin who was my best friend died that week and we buried him on the day of the game. That day also happens to be my birthday. Lil Harry Doyle was heartbroken already and then it was completely shattered. Easily the most craptastic day of my life.

'11 @ OSU cost us a Dr Pepper. We led with less than 5 min left and had 3 plays to tie the game from 5 yard line. How is that not top 5???

That game felt like a shootout, that whoever had the ball last would win.  It was a disappointing finish but not gut wrenching.

Yea - We were in the red zone about to go up 14-0 and potentially coast.  Instead it was 7-7 and it went downhill from there.  After 2002 everyone was thinking potential championship and losing to Marshall at home was just so disheartening.

After the game, the Marshall players came out and danced on our Powercat midfield  :curse:.  When we went to Marshall the next year and beat them at home, their fans had a fit when our players went to midfield and danced on the Marshall "M".  Boo'd our guys for a long time.

Marshall throwing that pass from our 21 when all they had to do was kick  I had forgotten we were about to score to put the game out of reach and shot ourselves in the foot.

Just McKinney later stole a bunch of stuff from a former college roommate of mine. I don't hold it against him though since he won us that game in 2005.

I was at the Marshall-KSU game in Huntington, WV. Very odd game. I think Texas vs OSU was the night game?
Where did you get that overnight bag?
