2014 ADV stats stuff
« on: November 04, 2014, 03:24:17 PM »
Cats are tearing it up in Points Per Drive: http://www.bcftoys.com/2014-ppd/

Also, our numbers are favorable compared to TCU in those stats.

The Cats still aren't hot on the FEI, but solid at #17: http://www.bcftoys.com/2014-fei/

Offense sits at #20, Defense at #15, and STs at #11.

S&P is even lower at #25; defense at #21 and offense at #30. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa

Still, the Cats rank really high in things like Yards per Point http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/yards-per-point and decent in Points per Play http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/yards-per-point.

Yards per point blow my mind!

I find it a very interesting stat, It could be viewed as a offensive crutch helping out a less effective offense to score or it could be viewed as offensive cloak hiding a more than effective offense.

Big thing is if field position is sustainable. Also helps if you have an effective touchdown scoring red-zone offense.

I think it really shows who can't sustain drives

But we're top 10 in points per drive?

Field position stats are available and the Cats have good numbers there. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/fpa

The real strength for K-State is forcing tough field position for opponents. Our offense hasn't benefited a ton from short fields, but our defense has because opponents rarely have short fields. Our offense also rarely has long fields.

The Cats are also really good on RZ conversions, both overall% and TD%. http://www.cfbstats.com/2014/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category27/sort01.html (which also makes our bizarro Auburn game even more frustrating.)
