so a question of etiquette... i'm going to be out of town tomorrow for work and won't have any chance at all to have an in person talk with my boss. should i call (or email?) him tomorrow to give my notice as a courtesy and have a face to face convo later, or wait until after a meeting we will both be at first thing friday? it should be noted that me leaving will have a considerable effect on the purpose of the meeting (look ahead scheduling) which could result in some wasted time if they find out after.

i thought about that MC, but the meeting is at 6:30am, and i would have to ask him to come in early to discuss it and likely give the reason i'd need him to come in early anyway, so a phonecall tomorrow seems equivalent

i think you should email and just mention, like, "sorry for emailing this, but i don't want you to waste time..." i don't know why people assume other people want to have their awkward convos in person. he'll probably be glad to get it emailed.

When I accepted my current job my previous boss was on vacation. I called her up while she was on the beach to let her know I was leaving. Not ideal by any means, but it seemed like time sensitive info.

I guess it makes sense if you are on the west coast and video conferencing with people on the east coast. Even then, that'd be a dick move on the east coast people's part.
