yes that was some major league algorithming. Chings is right on your tail so don't get cocky. Actually there really isn't much separation across the board, everyone was pretty accurate.

The field goal is the right play if you are trying to win, though. You have to give yourself enough time to get the second score.

they were going to have to recover an onside kick in either scenario. No sense in running 2 extremely risky plays (converting on 4th and medium or game is over, followed by recovering onside kick) unless you absolutely have to.
