How much did Oklahoma State offer Bill Self?  I'm pretty sure T. Boone was going to make him the highest paid coach in the country.

he listened.  and forced ku to make him the highest paid coach in the big 12 to stay.  anderson was just like "sorry, i love mu too much to play these hurtful games".

True.  You also have to consider the fact that Anderson just signed his best recruiting class at Mizzou, though.

Golfing with Richardson.  Good stuff.  Hopefully Nolan tells him to follow the money this time.

Good lord Anderson is pulling a Self on poor mu.  Just sweating them hard for the dollar.

Who hasn't actually signed?  Ratliff hasn't, he could go to Eugene.

oh, anderson would take all the recruits.  half of them are his friend's kids, and it's in his contract.

Tony, look at what your coach is doing. You don't want to play for that, do you?

We're still here.

Current mu talking point is actually that MA has more haracter than Huggs or Cal even though Huggs left to go to his alma mater and CMA is now absolutely leveraging the crap our of poor mu for a school that he most likely hasn't even seen the campus of.

LOL, MU, LOL.  CMA is as money hungry as they come.

gosh darn angry. I hate this about college sports, the ability to just ignore a current contract. What is the point of signing a coach to a multi-year deal when the coach can accept offers throughout the contract years? It just frustrates me that Mizzou has to "counter" an offer from Oregon to keep a coach that we already have under a 7 year contract! ugh.

Mizzou Gives Oregon Permission to Talk With Anderson

Missouri spokesman Dave Reiter said Friday morning that Oregon had asked for and had received permission - on Thursday evening - to speak with MU Head Basketball Coach Mike Anderson about the Duck's vacant hoops position.

"They asked for permission last night to talk to coach and it was granted," Reiter told The Star just a few moments ago.

Now, what that all means won't be known until later today when Reiter anticipates releasing a statement from Anderson, who on Friday was playing in mentor Nolan Richardson's charity golf tournament in El Paso, Texas.

"Once he's able to we'll get a statement from him," Reiter said.

The (Portland) Oregonian has posted a story on its web site contending that Anderson and the head of the search committee to find a new hoops coach for the Ducks, met in El Paso on Thursday night and discussed Anderson taking the post as the head quacker.

Couple of things. One, I don't believe Anderson is leaving Missouri.

Two, a current member of the MU team I contacted this morning said he had heard nothing.

Will we get a statement from Anderson saying that despite what could be up to a $3 million offer from Oregon, he will stay at MU? Don't know.

Again, I don't believe Anderson is going anywhere right now if only because he's just signed both sons of one of his best friends to be Tigers and he's not going to tell Paul Pressey he won't be in Columbia to coach them.

Here's a link to the story in The Oregonian (a similar piece is on the web site of the Eugene Register Guard:

One of Anderson's assistants is going to have to take the bullet and bang Tony's mom to keep him in Columbia.
