NYC:Some reasonably tall buildings, at least from what I could see from Newark. Was having such a good time there we didn't actually get to Manhattan. About what I expected, overall. Did stop by a Dominos in Queens on the way to the airport, didn't seem that special, for all I'd heard about New York pizza.
DC:Walked around the Mall a bit, Smithsonians, Archives, etc. It was nice, but too spread out. Seemed like there was almost too much green space between buildings. Passed the President on his morning run, and naturally a few people were starstruck but from what I gather he is a semi-regular fixture around DC so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Hawaii:Folks kept telling my family we should go to the beach, but it just looked like plain old water and sand to me. I mean, it was reasonably scenic, but we wound up sticking around our hotel pool. Water was just as wet, and didn't have to worry about brushing off the sand.
Our campus is too spread out is something I've actually never heard before.
