scheduling philosophy

I get that playing Auburn was cool, and that had we won, we would have been in a great position.

HOWEVER...had we played Ding-Dong Tech and won by 3 points, we would still be in control of our destiny.  :billdance:

the positives of playing one good power 5 non-con game per year outweigh the negatives, imo.

this year was perfect: an FCS team, an FBS pud, and a power 5.

maximum of one road non-con game, and only in seasons where we have five home conference games.

Playing in big time Non-con games is the great way to improve and promote the University. I think with the current state of college football we should concern our selves with improving the programs versus individual seasons.

Does it matter if you lose all three?

I have a feeling Mississippi St. will be pretty damn good by the time we face them down the road.

I could also see Dan Mullen coaching at Florida next year, forever changing Mississippi St. future.

I think if Baylor and the qatz can run the table in the big 12, that final game will be for a spot in the playoffs. I know it's a long shot, but how are you going to beat an undefeated Baylor team on the road and not get selected after running the table? :dunno:

I agree with you, but that's not my point. The only thing that matters in the grand scheme of things is what the selection committee decides to do. If they really wanted to, they could put a 10-3 team in the playoffs arguing that their 3 losses were partly due to an injury/injuries. I don't think they would but anything can happen.

It's gonna be hard for OU and Baylor (either) to go undefeated through their schedules, so, if Kstate goes undefeated in conference play we're league champion anyway...or am I missing something?

Well, if KSU goes undefeated of course we win the conference.  That condition kind of eliminates OU or Baylor going undefeated.

You really Cantele'd this thread.
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

Every year we control our own destiny. Might as well play someone I've heard of on this destiny ride.
