it's true what they say about the civil war being brother on brother.
my grandfather fought for the free states in the civil war, his half brother fought for the south.  so my grandfather shot his half brother in the face.

Your grandfather sounds like a complete stud.

I heard from several reputable sources (A+) that we were even looking ahead to the Spanish-American War.  Sucks to suck I guess Confeds.

my sources confirm that some northerners were scared at the time the the civil war might be a "trap war".

I think the best part about the whole thing was how leading up to the war the southerners were all absolutely convinced they were going to win despite being totally outmatched.  Completely delusional.

"Der, I know u got most dem facotories to build guns and ruhroads to trasnnport dem with wit, and sure half of our population is kept in sub human conditions....but we gone win!!!"

The SEC actually knew they were outgunned, but believed they could win by fighting an insurgency campaign that would eventually sap the North's will to fight. They were kind of like the first Al Qaeda.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Also like Al Qaeda (or ISIS), the SEC are ignorant, America-hating religious fundamentalists. They appear fearsome, but fold like pool chairs when confronted with the superior firepower of the North.

The south tried to pay the English to get involved and commit to their cause.  Of course karma looks down at the kind of snake that would embrace the enemy of their enemy just to flip us the the proverbial roll damn tide.

(Moved this convo to this thread where it belongs.)

The War of Northern Aggression

That was the most common name for it in the south during the war. In other words, it was a tongue-in-cheek historical reference.

We here in the Free States call it the War of Southern Treason, which is accurate.

lol
While I am sublimely confident that I could steamroll you in a serious discussion about the era, I won't be commenting further on the subject for two reasons:
1.) This is a sports forum
2.) I refuse to be trolled.

Blah, blah. You already got steamrolled. Scoreboard:

I've never seen a confederate flag at a KSU tailgate. Doubt any SEC team can say that

Sometimes you gotta go no huddle hurry-up when running through open fields, but once you reach cover it's pretty much control the clock, disguise your coverage on defense and hunker down for the long haul.

I did some research on Memorial Day this year and found out that my great-great-great grandfather Marched to the Sea with his Ohio unit before he came to Kansas on the Homestead Act. What an awesome American life, huh?

I was named after my ancestor who fought in the Civil War.  Capt. Fedor was in the Union
(of course) and kicked hillbilly slaver ass until his kicking leg was plumb wore out.

Just watched 12 years a slave the other night. I thought it was strange how the plantation owner was yelling "war eagle" as he whipped that girl but I get it now.

If I ever did research that showed someone in my family fought for the south I'd change my last name
